I went back through this thread. The longest any has smoked was 49 years and one was 48. I smoked for 40 years. How was your health after 48 and 49 years. I know how bad mine was after 40 years.

Since the majority of people who voted was 25 or more years how much has your health improved. What effects did you have from smoking.
How long have you been vaping and how easy was it to quit.

I started smoking at 20 years of age. Funny thing was that I hated cigarette smoke all through my teens and long before it was fashionable to do so.

I smoked from 20 to 45 with a two and a half year hiatus when I was in my late 20s.

Someone asked about health effects and improvement. My only health issue was shortness of breath from smoking between 1 and 2 packs per day for over a decade. Since quitting smoking and going to the 510, I have improved my cardio immensely, my throat feels much better, I can breath easier and my energy level improved a huge amount.

Been vaping for 8 weeks and 2 days. Haven't had tobacco since I picked up the 510 for the first time.

I started smoking Benson & Hedges when I was 19. I smoked 1/2 pack a day. 22 years later I bought a Vapor King because I wanted to quit. I have two children and I wanted to be around for them. The only issue I noticed was shortness of breath until... FSC's came around. I didn't even know what an FSC was, I just new my cigarettes tasted wierd. I thought I was sick or something. My lungs started to have sharp pain in them after smoking. That is when I joined a cigarette forum to find out what was up. I found a store that had non FSC B&H cigarettes and the pain went away. With all cigarettes going FSC I knew the time was NOW to quit. I ordered a Vapor King and the day it arrived I knew I was going to be a non smoker finally!! My blood pressure used to be 140/90 two months ago and yesterday it was 107/73. I am now able to exercise (2 weeks into P90X, and swimming). I have lost 25 pounds since the cigarettes have gone in the trash. I feel the best I have in the past 15+ years.

Interesting that there is now 50% of 25 yrs and more smokers still out there. It's 31 yrs for me and I started in 1978. Back when I started - it was only then known by the Surgeon General that smoking is harmful - but alot of people still smoked and you could smoke at work (even at a Bank), at supermarkets etc. My parents smoked since they were 16 yrs old - they were born in the 1925-1930's and Greta Garbo and many actors/actresses smoked on the silver screen and it was fashionable. So was curvy full bodied woman-lol. Times have changed quickly.

I quit for 1 yr 7 yrs ago but caved in. Now I'm smoke free since 11/23/09. Vaping has helped me tremendously not to crave analogs. Without it, I would be spitting bullets every day. I pray that the FDA doesn't ban it. It would be like the government wanting to put us in the grave sooner.

You know, I think I originally voted for 5-10 years... and then I started thinking about it.
I had thought that I quit for a long time, but in retrospect... I realize that I had never quit for more than six months at the most.

I had told people I hadn't smoked for a year save the occasional clove.. but my wife pointed out that I was still using a couple packs a week.

So even as a conservative estimate, I've been smoking about 20 years.

!!20years!! That is a really really sobering thought! I don't think I've done ANYTHING for 20 years.

Even the idea that I can say "20 years!" is amazing.. When did this age thing happen?
Where did all the time go?

It's funny, in my head I still see myself as 21.

My package from Puresmoker can't get here fast enough. After thinking about it, I loathe every analog I light up. Sure hope this thing works.

If we describe ourselves by the thing we have done the longest, that means I'm a smoker, and that sucks.

I think I started when I was 25ish and I'm 29 now so about 4 years. It was light at first and in the last year or so it escalated to a pack a day, if not a lil more some times. So I am incredably happy I found this site and am now using my pv. Still have slip ups here and there but I am doing really good I think.

I started smoking when I was 12, not a full blown smoker but toying with it. By the time I was 16 I was a pack a day smoker. I smoked 37 years until last November when I got my Joye 510. Still had an analog every now and then, but have been smoke free for over a month now and I'm lovin' it. I had tried every other way to quit, without success I might add. But with vaping not really a problem. The more I vaped, the less I wanted those nasty, smelly, burning, stinking analogs! Yippeeeee!!! I'm Free.

I started smoking when I was 10 years old, I'm 45 years old now for I smoked for 35 years now, I'm giving it up for vapin right now though.

It was legal for kids to buy smokes back then, just think I got 3 packs of brand name smokes for $1, that $.33 per pack for brand name.

The gov't had no problem with kids smoking back then, it was the cool thing to do, that and drink I was getting served at age 16. The cops would pick me up to drunk to walk home, take me home ring the door bell, then when they seen some one coming take off real fast. :)
