Sorry for going off topic

No, you're not...

but I don't understand the American obsession with guns.

'Cause you're not an American...

Could someone explain to me why you feel like you need them? I'm assuming you don't want to kill people... Do you live in neighbourhoods where you don't feel safe without them?
(I don't want to bash anyone, I'm genuinely curious).

Yes. Correct. No. Then PM someone instead of hijacking a thread!

In the mornings when I head out to work I take two bottom feeders with full bottles in each and I make sure each has freshly charged batts. I generally take a couple minutes each night before I go to bed to make sure the bottles are filled and the batts are charged or either charging.

And I don't carry any guns with me ;)

Define "obsession". :) It's something I own and enjoy using... as are my TVs, computers, cars, & PVs. I would counter that I don't understand Europe's aversion to guns. "Attacker shot dead" is a much better ending than "attacker is wanted by police" in my book. It's the same reason we have fire extinguishers and spare PV batteries... "just in case".

*more hijack*...as a culture and a country, we have carried firearms from the beginning upto the taming of the West(cowboys and outlaws) and into modern times...it is a right enshrined in our Constitution and it has kept Youro(and other) a-hoes off our backs over the centuries...Yamamoto said he couldn't invade the US because there would be a gun behind every blade of grass...why do I carry a gun...because a cop is too heavy...when your life is in immediate danger, the police are many minutes away...my Daddy did and I have since I was 8...if you don't understand, we probably can't explain it to ya...*hijack apologies*

Hey, I was just asking. Your response indicates that you think that my question is some kind of attack (at least you seem a bit defensive), which it's not. It's just something I don't understand at all, but would like to - but not enough to single someone out and PM them about it :)
You're right though, I'm not actually sorry for going off topic - there was already talk about guns, which was already kind of off topic...

EDIT: Thanks for the replies I got. Still don't really get it, but I'll leave it it at :)

I like to take a lot of stuff out with me. A lot of the people I hang out with tend to still smoke cigs. So if something breaks and I don't have backup, guess where I'm going? So I tend to carry a backup of everything. I even had to go out and get myself a "murse." It generally doesn't leave the car though. I can always run out to the car real quick and grab something, driving all the way back home though is out of the question. So heres what I carry.

    60 ml of juice
    1 - 18650 battery
    silver bullet (backup)
    4 - cr123 batteries
battery charger (charges both types of batteries, yay!)
    2 extra cartos
    dental pick
    extra mouthpieces for cartos
    1 atty
    1 drip trip

I've been known to run out to the store for a few minutes and end up not making it back home until sometime the next day. So I always have to be prepared.

    that's pretty funny.

I throw a Reo grand and provari with a 3ml carto tank in my purse I never take any batteries, attys, cartos or juice with me maybe if I didn't work from home I'd take more

...I don't understand the American obsession with guns...
It's not an obsession. It's just a part of American life. Firearm ownership, by private citizens, is the first defense against governmental tyranny. Non-Americans have trouble understanding that, and appear to me to be overly passive in their interactions with their governments. I have no idea why.

...Could someone explain to me why you feel like you need them?...
I don't need them, but it is my constitutional right to own them, and that is a right I assert with a great deal of personal confidence. I simply understand and appreciate firearms in the same way that I understand and appreciate any other machine or electronic device. They're also fun to shoot--kind of a personal best in honing one's skills with pleasurable practice--very relaxing.

...I'm assuming you don't want to kill people...
Actually, I do; but only if a person, or group of people, wants to kill or maim me or any of my family members. I have the inalienable right to self-defense, should the need arise.

...Do you live in neighbourhoods where you don't feel safe without them?...
No. I live in a very safe neighborhood; but the perception of personal insecurity is not the reason to own a firearm. In fact, a person who buys a firearm out of fear is the last person who should own one. Scared people hurt or kill others accidentally, and give responsible firearm owners a bad reputation.

[End of my participation in the hijacking.]

    I've always travelled light.

I take the Jessy (ego clone with VV) that's in my hand, a small bottle of juice (or two if I want another flavor), and a spare battery with atty assembled.

Carts if I'm using them, but lately I've just been dripping for the convenience of it. (In my day to day life I very rarely have to drive, so I can drip most anytime.)

each battery is 900mah and lasts 6 to 10 hours, depending on how hard I'm vaping- when one dies, I switch to the other. By the time the other dies, I've been home for a while.

When I'm out out, as in travelling for work/leaving the country/whatever but gone a long time, I adjust the size of the juice bottle accordingly, and throw in a USB cable and wall charger.

    Best,
    Ande

PS- I do not own or carry any firearms, but asking about it was NOT a thread hijack anymore than mentioning them in the first place was.

PPS- lived in the rural US, I had a winchester 12 gauge pump in the house. Handy for varmits, whether the human kind or the other kind. Now living in a place where I neither need, want, or am allowed to have one. But if I ever move back someplace where rabies in the animal kingdom is an issue, I'll be picking up another.

PPPS- Those of you carrying pistols are underestimating the value of a good shotgun. MUCH superior for many purposes imo. Though harder to conceal.

PPPPS- My British wife doesn't get it either.

There are reasons (in addition to geography and military might) that we've never been invaded or occupied. Just sayin.

OK, I can't hold it in. The Invasion of Belgium by Nazi Germany started on May 10, 1940. It took only 18 days before the country was subdued.

If you folks were armed like we are, things would have been very different.

Belgium was liberated late in 1944 by Allied forces, including British, Canadian, and American armies.

WE bailed your sorry butts out. Learn by history and arm yourselves. WE might not be there for you the next time.

Oh yeah, carry an extra ego , 2 cartos, and an m-16 if you can get your hands on one..

Saying away from politics and sounding like Charles Bronson and / or Rambo...

Americans like to own firearms for the same reason a dog licks his nads. Because we can!
