I have to say, I have not been very successful. I have let many smokers try my various ecigs, good ones, and most smokers just are not interested. I have successfully converted only one person, my brother. I have a neighbor who will borrow my eqipment from time to time, but he still smokes analogs mostly. I've had people tell me it tastes like crap (really?), they get no hit from it (I vape 24 mg), it's just not for them, etc., etc. This may be obvious, but I think someone really has to want to quit before they have any interest in it at all. With all the pro's of vaping over smoking, it was a no-brainer for me, but in my experience, most just don't see it that way. Honestly, I don't even try any more. If someone asks, then I'm more than happy to let them try my equipment, point them in the right direction, and otherwise help them any way I can. But if someone doesn't ask, I figure they're probably not a good candidate anyway. Just thinking out loud a bit.

I agree, I do think people have to try it with an open mind and also need to have a desire to stop smoking. I've found that the people who don't like it want something that is EXACTLY like smoking an analog, and those people are really not ready/willing to make the switch.

Also so far have not converted anyone, though there is promise with one of my friends. I just have to find her a juice she likes.

Still trying to convert my Mom, Sister and Aunt. Sister has shut down completely. Mom is still trying and Aunt only vapes when she is around the non-smokers of the family. I'm tired of the complaints...money, hassle, taste...blah, blah, blah. You are right, they have to really want to quit and be active in finding their own sweet spot. Thankfully my Mom is now enjoying my Reo with a high VG blend and a LR 306 atty. Took a while, but she's getting there. If I only get her to convert I will be very happy.

They're still in their eGo newbie stage but now that they've tried my mod out they're chomping at the bits for more :)

Along with the aforementioned notion that people won't try it unless they want to quit, I'll state the other obvious barrier to converting people: time and effort. I think you have to have a hefty compulsive streak in you- especially when it comes to gadgets- to fully embrace vaping and put in the energy it takes to make it satisfying. I happen to be compulsive about gadgets and flavor varieties (food, candy, drinks), so I think I was born to vape ;) But as we all know it can require much research and effort which when combined with a smoker's addition can often yield a zero sum.

I quoted Psych's statement above because I dispute the whole "eGo's/510's are for noobs" notion. I'm perfectly happy with my Halo G6/808; I like it because it performs well, has never let me down, and the cigarette size/style is comfortable, especially out in public. I'm a fully converted vaper and to be honest those hulking mods are just not my thing, and if I had somone trying to push me into vaping by showing me a mod, I might have been turned off immediately and never tried it again. Just something to keep in mind :)

I've discussed and shown a few people that I've met out and about, and I have no idea if they followed through.

Interestingly, the woman who introduced me to e-cigs (through a local drug store that had overpriced mini's) didn't stick with it herself. She lost the one battery that came with the set and never replaced it. I sent her a bunch of links and offered to let her borrow one of mine, but she had no interest in exploring further.

Oh well... I will keep trying. I'm going to see my FIL this weekend and I'm going to show him my e-cig. He's 75 years old and has been smoking since he was 14, so I don't see him getting into it, but if he shows the slightest bit of interest I'm going to buy him a Riva or something similar along with a bunch of juices to try. I just don't see him wanting to fiddle around with it though, so I just don't know how that would work out. And he doesn't know anything about the internet, so I suppose I'd have to keep him supplied if he decided to give it a try. DH doesn't have much hope for his father giving it a go.

Yeah, I'm the same, I like to fiddle. There is definitely a fiddle factor involved, as we all know. I still haven't found a flavor I consistently like. I get tired of all of them. Good thing there's and endless variety to choose from.

Iv had mixed history, so far iv converted five folks. Three have mods and that's what did it for them. The other two just got the ego t kits and love them. They both love the hit of high volts though but can't afford a mod. I bought the egos for them and they are doing a payment plan. I find the mods give the best impression of what they have as most have seen the mall junk. Hell my ol lady got one two or three years back and after less then an hr I hated the ideal. I got reintroduced to it by some one with a six volt mod. I bought a six volt bb set up and found this site a few days later. The next week I ordered my provari and have not looked back since.

I'm in much agreement with this. After 5 months I'm still really happy with my eGos with mega dual coil cartomizers and don't see myself getting into 'mods' and so forth anytime soon. Some of them are just too big and weird looking for me! A good eGo setup works very well if you switch from attys to cartomizers. I have four, all with different flavors, that I rotate throughout the day. I top off each evening and charge them while I'm at work or lounging on the couch at night. This system is working well for me. :)

I found out about it from coworkers. GF said she was going to quit on 11/18 so I told her I was going to try ecigs and lower the nic gradually as I didn't want to go "Cold Turkey" like she was.
Well....GF, who was going to quit on 11/18 never did and I've been vaping ever since. Tried to get her to vape and she refuses, won't even try one drag on my ecig. She sees my gear lined up and me filling the cartos and says "It looks like too much work". She smokes Marlboro Special blends and was thinking of getting her a starter kit for Xmas despite her negativity towards the whole vaping scene. Any suggestions?

So, in summation, when I started vaping she said she didn't need a crutch and could quit without using ecigs, so far, that hasn't worked out for her. I really wish I could get her to quit. She had a stent put in her heart and the analogs are going to kill her eventually, the Dr even said so.
