I'm interested to know how many people have built a "Puck" for themselves and what thier results were. I know how well it works for me. I just want to know what the results are for everyone else that may have built one. I like stats like, what atomizer you used, how long did the batteries last, etc...

I know of few that have built some and had good results but I know there are more of you out there. Everyone's vaping habits are different so I'd like to find out from a broad range of vaping conditions.

If you have any questions about it, don't be shy. Ask away.

Proof the tutorial is great.....I followed the instructions and made one on my first try. Thanks for posting it.

It took about 4 hours from start to finish because I've never done anything like this. I read and studied and read and studied and made SURE I understood what to do. My 2nd one should be done in half the time. I'll use shrink tubing to insulate the connections so that will clean it up a good bit.

If memory serves me you said you were thinking about doing one with a juice feeder....how is that coming along?

Again, thanks for providing the tutorial

Great to hear you were able to build one. Your time will diminish as you get used to building them. It takes me about 1 1/2 hours but I mix glue 3 times and wait for it to set. If I glued all at the same time, the time would probably be less than an hour but I like to do it in sections :)

The juice feeder is about there... just haven't had a lot of time to spend on it yet. The big project at work I'm working on will be over soon and I'll have some spare time to devote solely to this. I am dying to get it done. I have the final design after all of my testing,... just got to put it all together.

Nice Tutorial Puck!

I have been building this same Mod for quite some time myself because of the low cost. The two major differences are that I us a proprietary 510 connector since they are easily adaptable to anything, and I have been using an epoxy rather than JB. I may try the JB since it cures faster and looks great tho. Thanks for the tips! Again, great job man!

JB Kwik/Weld is epoxy.

Thanks.

If you are going to use JB,... use JB QWIK. JB WELD takes a lot longer to set. JB QWIK sets up in 5 minutes and is just about fully cured in 15 minutes which is very strong at this point. Full cure over night but you can do anything with it in 15 minutes.

Puck - Thanks!!! This is a great mod and a great tutorial. Spent under $20 total on this, which is the right price! I just took the first few drags off of my newly completed Puck, which is my first mod as well, and it is awesome!

I actually did this for KR808D-1 Cartomizers, which you can do if you swap out the power connector for a 274-1583. Everything else is exactly the same.
Thanks again!

Great Tip

I made The Puck (if I can, anyone can) and want to use different hardware to build another, so this was exactly what I was looking for.

Is there a connector that will work with a 510 atty?

Thanks for any help.....

Since the 510 atomizer screws into the connector, I don't know of any myself and haven't really seen anything on the forum. The 901 and 808 screws onto the battery (not into) which makes it a bit easier to match up to other things like jacks and such.

I broke down and bought 510 connectors online just for experimenting and such. Couldn't find a substitute or a substitute that didn't cost more to make than the real online connectors themselves.

Here's my puck with a green LED. Took me about 4 hours. Couldn't find any of my drill bits had to do them by hand with a knife! Very good detailed instructions. I'm gonna attempt a 510 next.

Now that shows the spirit of a true modder. Use whatever it takes to get the job done :)

Great Job and determination.

Actually, there is such a thing, tho it is neither elegant nor compact as consructed:

Sadly, many objections were placed by those who think it is better to buy adapters rather than make them.

Just built my first box mod. Using a 510 atty. The puck took about 3 hours. Would have been quicker with a new solder tip :(. I'm using alkaline batteries until my rechargeable are charged. Works great, I've never used anything above 3.7, I won't go back after using the puck. Although my wife laughed because it is so big I love it. Thank you for the very detailed instructions. I'm going tube finding tomorrow to add a juicer.

Yours is higher than 3.7? Mine doesn't even feel like it's hitting 2.00. I'm using alkaline too. Maybe my LED is taking too much power?

An LED will not take that much power. If you are not getting good results then you need to try another atomizer or check your wiring. It is possible that your atomizer is not performing up to par if you have been using it a while prior. If you don't have your batteries wired correctly, you may not get what you expect.

With Alkalines, you should get about 5 to 5.5 volts under load (when you're pushing the button). With NiMh you should get about 4.6 down to 4.0 under load. If you are not getting these values, check your battery wiring or your atomzer.

I don't really think it could be your led. Check your voltage at your atomizer ternials just to make sure.

Still kind of a modding newbie, is the center pin of an 801 DC Jack (radio shack 801 connector) the positive and the outside casing the negative?

Edit: could I put in a ti 5volt regulator. Will this still hold up?
