I know this thread is kind of old, but it's so cool. I'd love to try this, but my partner is probably fed up with all the stuff I've bought lately, haha. I wish I could try someone's juice to be like, "no see, this is so good, I need to make it."
As for non-tobacco flavors that would be good in a barrel, I think a dark vanilla would be good. Not a sweet candy vanilla, but a really good, true vanilla type flavor. Maybe something cinnamony (the stick, not the candy) as well. Rum or whiskey egg nog or cola would be interesting. Or an espresso kind of chocolatey flavor. Just to throw out some ideas. Maybe I'll eventually look into getting a barrel.

I just discovered this thread a couple of weeks ago and I must say that I've enjoyed following your project Muggs. So much so that I ordered a 1 liter barrel because I really want to try this for myself. The recipe by itself was enough get me to try mixing a 30 ml batch, and even before it steeped, I knew that this would be a juice I could enjoy for a long time.

I already had a few of the flavors, and the rest I got from MBV and ecigexpress. My mix turned out very dark to start with, as both the Mapel Rum Tobacco and the Madagascar Vanilla flavors are both very dark.

I put this in my Ultrasonic steeper for 3 hours, and was very impressed with the way the flavors blend and compliment each other. Overall a very satisfying vape! Can't wait to do a 2 - 3 week barrel steep, as this will no doubt improve an already great vape liquid.

I see Flavor West has all 6 flavors, so will give them an order when I need to restock. Going to mix up about 210 ml for my first barrel batch. I figure after the barrel eats about 30%, I'll still have a pretty good amount to enjoy myself as well as give some away.

Again, many thanks for a great job well done. Can't help but wonder what your next project might be?

Jacob, check with me in a few weeks, and if my first batch turns out like I think (and hope) it will, I'd be glad to send you a sample.

Finally got to mix up a 270 ml batch last weekend.
*Note to Self: Don't try to put 270 ml in a 250 ml flask again!

Transferred the batch to a 500 ml flask and spent 2 hours on the magnetic stirrer.

Then into the barrel.

I was going to wait a full week, but it just smelled so good I couldn't resist and had to pull about 10 ml out yesterday (@ 6 days barrel steep).
Initial taste test was something of a surprise.
I had previously made a 60 ml batch of the same recipe and speed steeped 3 hours in the ultrasonic. It is quite tasty and have been vaping it the last couple of weeks. I like the combination of tobaccos and slight sweet nutty flavor.
The barrel steeped juice has changed the juice flavor profile. The sweets are less pronounced and there is definitely a "woody oak" taste. It was very noticeable on the first few hits, but after vaping several ml it's not so obvious. Still there but kind of in the background. Quite enjoyable in fact. I really like this.

Even though my barrel is still not tight enough to prevent a little leaking around the ends, I'm going to let this steep another week.

I'm convinced that the barrel aged juice is better tasting, and already have plans to make another batch. Probably 300 - 400 ml next time. It's so good I can see wanting this juice in my regular line of favorites.

Again, my hats off to you Muggs for the idea and the recipe! :smokie:

And Jacob, I'll try to save you a sample! :)
