First off when did it become the responsibility of government to protect us from ourselves. Second that is a massive load of ---- and you know it. tobacco is a high value commodity that does require some regulation, it makes sense to tax it, but not to nearly the extreme that it is. The reason cigarette taxes are so high is that sales have gone down hill significantly since the late 80s, this caused a drop in revenue. They increase the tax in order to keep up their revanue and sell it to the people by claiming that it forces people to quit. At this point in time the biggest profiteer on cigarettes is the US government, getting people to quit is the last thing they want to do.

AMEN! THANK YOU for a voice of sense!

Best action is to educate. So they found carcinogens in the vape well there's higher levels of carcinogens in sausage and hot dogs. So there's a chance you can die from vaping but there's a higher chance of being killed by a robot. Everyday goes by their chance of success of banning e cigs gets smaller so they need to act as soon as they can. Example they tried to ban AR-Rifles, problem is they are the most sold rifle and more households own one meaning more voters. Everyday there are more and more vapors and more voters that vape. They have to act now before they get defeated and if it passes it may take a while but it will get overturned as long as us vapors keep speaking up and vote for those that support us. So if people are really concerned about their health and try to ban or reduce the use of e cigs must also need to give up eating sausage, hot dogs, processed foods, and avoid electronics cause that killer robot is coming for them.

No one has found any carcinogens in "vape." That's the ENTIRE POINT!

one of my favourite replies to someone who says vaping is worse than smoking ... yeah, after 8 years ... we're still waiting for the first ex-smoker to show negative health results from vaping

Heck, with millions and millions of vapers over the last 8 years ... we're still looking for just one that doesn't feel well

even doctors must be noticing something positive is happening by now.

Have you read the forum much? There are near daily threads about someone suffering from vape-related issues...

We all know the roles of BT and BP in vaping and why they want people to smoke, but what many don't realize is how the states NEED people to keep smoking.

When the states got money from the MSA (Master Settlement Agreement) many of them took out loans on that money. No big surprise there, states always say they need money, but most of the loans say they must be paid with money received from the MSA. The MSA money is paid off the yearly tobacco sales in that state. They can not use any other money to pay it, so the states such as CA, WA, and several others need people to smoke so they have the funds to repay these loans. It should not come as a surprise the states pushing the hardest right now with regulation are the same states getting ready to default on these loans.

Then they should learn some fiscal responsibiity such as "don't count your chickens before they hatch." This entire tobacco bond debacle is wondrous way of exposing the fraud rampant in our various gov'ts, and I hope everyone who had any part in the tobacco bonds GOES TO JAIL FOR FRAUD and mismanagement! They're criminals and it's high time they paid for their crimes!

You do realize that this forum is for vapors, right? Your shared vitriolic sentiments represent the complete antithesis of what this community is all about.

The vast majority of us are ex-smokers. We (and I stress, WE) enjoy Vaping. We want a safe way to enjoy consuming a food product- NOT a highly addictive chemically-laced concoction. We basically want to consume a product which is on par with drinking coffee.

In terms of chemical composition, nicotine and caffeine are almost identical. Nicotine is an organic compound which we ingest from sources, such as peppers, on a regular basis. Just as is the case with consuming coffee devoid of caffeine, there are zero-Nic variations of the food product called "e-juice."

The beauty of Vaping is that you can quit smoking by ingesting nicotine and then gradually reduce & eliminate your consumption of nicotine.

To digress:

We are not all engaging in a dangerous cycle of addiction. We are consuming a FOOD product & are being targeted as a new source of income by sleazy corrupt government officials who receive contributions from Big Pharma and Big Tobacco to "restore order" in this HEALTH REVOLUTION.

Vaping is a movement. I refuse to pay cigarette taxes for a zero-Nic food product!!!

It's so refreshing to find anyone who understands "antithesis" and even uses and spells it correctly. :D Kudos!! And particular kudos for slamming that ridiculous ANTZ philosophy being espoused right here on a vaping forum!

I see you totally get it where others are blind to the reasons tobacco tax is high and will continue to go up.

BG is going to hijack vaping to fuel their greed for lost tobacco tax ... I also predict we will see a black market arise.

Do you want e-liquid to be regulated like the food industry?
Perhaps it should be.

Why can't Vaping be like molded like the coffee industry? It is a food product with similar dynamics as coffee consumption.

Vape shops should be like coffee houses. They should have the same level of acceptance as Starbucks.

The problem is our choice in an election is more often than not between a jackass and a slightly less jackass.

I was also frustrated by the "lesser of two evils" (jackass is too mild a term imo) BS - choosing either is still a vote for evil. That's why I got involved in primaries - to try to put GOOD people on the ballot. It's still frustrating, as both major parties are full of evil people wanting to elect evil people, but it can be done, especially if we get more good people involved - strength in numbers.

Learn about the primary process in your state and get involved! Get involved in local politics as well - this is where your future reps at the federal level will start, so help some good people get their foot in the door! (Not to mention how having good people in your local govt can help you in a much more direct way!)

never met a vaper who didn't experience improved health myself

yeah, I've read a bunch of those threads where people think their runny nose or flu bug has been brought on by vaping ... however, I've never read one where vaping caused serious health issues and the person had to go back to smoking for improved health.

I wouldn't want to eat anything, or vape anything made in the vape shops I have been to in the US. Perhaps because they aren't regulated like coffee shops...

That is true. 58 percent of all food born poisonings reported in the US come from eating at outside establishments.

There for I cook most of my food, and make ALL of my juice. :?)

I agree with nearly every thing you say, in fact I enthusiastically agree. I can only speculate as to the motivation of taxation, it could be a mix of governmental pseudo-altruism and its insatiable lust for money.

As to regulation, tobacco needs one regulation, two simple declarative sentences: "Every product containing tobacco shall list, in type size not less than 8 point, every ingredient contained therein and the quantity thereof stated. There shall be no claim of exemption from this regulation based upon the propitiatory nature of the mixture." The same regulation would work for juice.

Everyone would be supplied with the knowledge to make their own decision, be it wise or other wise. Let producers squeal about how much research went into the development of the flavors, give them a copyright or patent, if the product is unique, with an expiration date, knowledge and decision outweigh the need for secrecy. It is not perfect but find a regulatory scheme that is.
