Yea. It's definitely worth a shot.

As for heating it from the outside... May be an excuse to bring out the big guns... The thermal wire strippers!

And before anyone asks... Of course I've though about yanking the transformer and making the ultimate PV... 60 watts of regulated power that can safely handle less than 0.1 ohms... Yea... I've thought about it... Especially since I have two of 'em.

Oh, here's the flashlight...

I like it... In fact I still have a couple single AA flashlights from the days when I was trying to mod w ego boards. They actually hold a 14650 once they're gutted. Ideas for a bottom switch?

Are you familiar with the K100 bottom switch set up? That style would work well for your mod. With the parts needed for a switch, you may have to drop from 14650 to 14500, but I'd try to fit the 650 /w switch first.

Nope... I am not. I thought the K100 took 18mm batteries. Seems like it'd too wide.

I don't know who made this, but the principles are sound.

The main plunger is a sex bolt, which slides through the nylon bushing to make contact.

The external spring is also a nice touch as it ensures a solid contact to the body (ground) when pressed. Plus you can say it's a Steampunk thing. :)

Here is what tail cap looks like when it's gutted...

I could do something very similar to what you pictured by simply removing the anodization from that bottom lip an press fitting in a thick brass or copper washer. That would replace the copper fitting in your pic... But the rest of the switch would pretty much be the same as the pic... Nylon bushing & sex bolt plunger.
I'm smelling a trip to the hardware store.

Have you had any leakage from the airhole on one of these?
In some of my 1st attempts, yes. That's why, in post #2, steps 4&5, the air hold are covered with food grade solder.
For the one I still have that still has an open hole, as long as the body is well made (with the threads undamaged and the carto air slots ground down and polished), the body will do a good job of keeping it sealed.

and how warm does it get?
Warm??? It can get flat out hot, especially when chain vaping. Not hot to the point where it's melting drip tips but I'd recommend delrin, metal or glass tips as opposed to the cheap plastic ones...
Think about how hot the top cap of a normal geni can get... You're putting the exact same amount of heat into a much more confined space.
That said, I've never burned my self on one, nor have I been able to damage the silicone insulator in the base... Not even when doing dry burns.

I was actually talking about the air hole you drilled in the tube, but since you didn't bring it up, I'm going to assume it's not an issue. :)

If you over fill it... Yea, it'll leak from the hole.
I've also learned that it's a good idea to vape it down to the point where there is little to no free standing liquid in the atty before putting it back into my pocket.
