Saw the title in new postings, had to come by and check it out and it was right on the money to what I thought the thread would be about. :D

Congrats to you all and as it's been mentioned before, the savings will come down the road unless you choose to keep expanding for the sheer fun of it.

I actually got 6 months without spending a dime after I settled down with what supplies I had. Then I started looking for new stuff again, but still in the black some 11 months later. Took about 5 months to break even from my initial spending spree. Either way, I'd be happy to spend twice as much as I used to on analogs for the way I feel today.

Happy days ahead, hope you find some awesome gear, enjoy the new hobby.

Some of us Harley riders like to say HD doesn't stand for Harley Davidson, it stands for Hundred Dollars. ...

Beemer riders say BMW stands for Bring More Wallet.

But, just like any other interest or hobby, there are start-up costs that occur, in addition to the running/maintenance costs. As long as the value of your enjoyment outweighs the costs, you're a winner!

Some of us Harley riders like to say HD doesn't stand for Harley Davidson, it stands for Hundred Dollars. So here I am, all in on another hundred dollar hobby. In just over two weeks of vaping, I've been a real "bull in a china shop" to the tune of many, many hundreds of dollars. I think many guys would be happy with a good two unit starter pac and be content for many many months. But oh no, not me! I just got done placing my second hundred and something dollar order from Vapor Phoenix, I've had 3 or 4 hundred plus purchases from the CigNot retail store near me, another hundred or so to various juice suppliers, and another hundred plus to Wizard Labs for DIY supplies. Something fishy here, I thought this was supposed to cost less than real cigs!

Ah, but there's good news! I've done a good job stocking up on all the hardware. A whole bunch of batteries, tips, tanks, clearo's, carto's, and spare parts. Enough DIY juice supplies to mix my own for many, many months. I think I'm at the point I won't need to spend another dime for most of 2013, so the savings will eventually come.

The only challenge will be fighting the urge to step up to a badaxe APV/Mod kit!

Must be strong....................................

Clyde

$$ well spent,Clyde:)..think of it as yr "well being" as once was a smoker and now vaping ..health wealth and peace of mind now U no longer smoke..regards mafig

Good News. You are not alone. A lot of us spent a lot more money than we ever thought we would on this. Its like Target or Costco. You can't come out with a shopping cart less than a hundred dollars. You can but, it hurts a lot. Ha. Especailly if you are like me and wanted several types of equiptment at once and had supply for all 5 types as it was in my case.

Every time you get a package in the mail and unload your new stuff, a whole new "need" list is formed. Usually what cool stuff can go with your new cool stuff. Its a vicious cycle. I get through the pain and guilt of this compulsion by looking at my signature where it says how much I have saved so far and subtract from the estimation I have of what I have spent. It helps a little. I will break even in 2015. Also, I look at my iphone app that tells me how many hours I am adding to my life as I continue not to smoke. I think to myself would I spend that much money to get this much time to spend with my family and it is always yes.

Then I feel better and go to the next website to buy more eliquid flavors. :)

    No you can't
Started vaping 10/15/12, I have been keeping track with a spreadsheet on the monies. So far to date $567.00 that wouldn't be bad but I use to roll my own cig at a cost $1.00 pack. Once again I say I will not buy another thing for a long while. waiting for somemore nicotine and wire the I'm Finished. I'm going to find a way to block all those ecig sites that want to sell me something. I think there know when I get paid! Maybe it's time to goto one of those AAA meeting! Can I admit I have a problem?

With my calculation if I continue to spend at this rate in year vaping will cost me $2299.00
When I smoked it cost $365.00 year
$ 1934.00 more a year, though I should be in better medical shape.

Ha ha... Welcome to the club! I'm a couple months in and I'm a member of the Thousand Dollar Club.

Yep, me too. I got there within three weeks. I am one of the silly ones who can spend 150 on drip tips and not blink. Really dumb but, it makes me happy and not smoking cigarettes..plus I am the one who is working overtime in the family to pay for it.... (justifing my addiction). LOL.

I should break even in the next 2-3 days. Tomorrow will be one week vaping for me. I'm into it for a mere $96. This got me an Ego C Twist 650mah, an Ego C Twist 1000mah, a Kanger T2, a ReDux, a Joyetech USB charger, a 20ml bottle of Apple Select Juice and 10ml Maple Select Juice. However I plan to pick up some more juice in the next couple of days and maybe another clearo or 2.

If anybody reading this thread is contemplating taking up e-cigs for the first time, Sinkhole's approach really is the perfect way to start. I ran into an old buddy last night who started three weeks ago with a cheap knock off single battery starter kit with a clearo and some juice. I doubt if he has 50 bucks total invested, and he's three weeks in and diggin' it. Me, I guess I'm a go big kinda guy. Big cars, big bikes, big guns, big women! More is better!

i bought all my stuff on black friday/cyber monday .
lava tube w/batts and charger a riva kit for back up about 100ml of juice and spent less than a hundred bucks.
then like i said bought and sold some stuff to keep me pretty even.
the classifieds are a great place to find stuff reasonable and keep ya broke lol

I've spent $369.00 my first month. I have greatly reduced my "real" smoking. I've went from 2 cartons a week to about 6 cigs a day.
I am overall pretty happy with my ecig experience and I am pushing it on all my addicted family and friends.
But.. I have not found anything that really works consistently so far.
I have ego tanks, stardust type ? things ? boge cartos, shorty cartos, cartridges, Titan tank etc etc. The original kit I got had cartridges which really seemed to work pretty well but were a pain in the .... to keep fiddling with.

I have had the best results with the Titan tanks, but the price of the atomizers concern me, at $8 to $10 a pop.
But the clouds of vapor really impresses my friends ;-)

    Howdy!

In the past 171 days I've gone from a v2 starter kit to an ego-t 650mah starter kit to an ego twist 650mah to a kgo 650mah vv passthrough to a young june lavatube 1.5t. Whew, say that 3 times fast. Have I spent a ton of $$? Yup. Do I regret a single purchase? Nope. My next big purchase will be a vw apv. Do I need a vw apv? Nope. But I'll get one anyway.

Yep. Want does outweigh need in most vamping situations.. But, who cares? If anyone wants to complain in my family I just explain how I can go back to the analogs. That shuts them up!

Lol, I hear ya there! I think one of the hardest things about being single is there's no one to stop me from buying what I want when I want it. It sucks having to argue with myself.

    Hehe.

I tryed not spend any more money, I really did. Walked over to CVS spend another $3.25 on cotton squares for wicking. Now Im not waiting for postal stuff anymore. I'm finding new things to buy local.

I dare not goto the mall.
Now when I go out have to leave credit cards home and take enough money with me I'm willing to give away. This stuff is like being with a pretty woman when she wants something she gets it. I remember the days when I was married, worked hard and I got to keep a few bucks for myself all she had to do was smile and smell nice I went  crazy it was like I lost part of my brain. Just like vaping stuff no control what so every. I guess I'm so happy not to smoking anlogs that spending money sounds like a good idea.
