That'll be great if their cell towers are still standing. Not saying they won't but, the possibility exists. At&t just send text messages to all its Florida customers, from 9-10 till 9-17 free talk, text and data service.
while I do have battery operated radios it is nice to know we are still in touch with the world even without electricity should we loose it.

I'm on a web app for neighborhoods and someone ask where they could buy a transistor radio yesterday. Some boob piped up with "don't worry about it just download the IHeart Radio app and you'll get all the locals!" Since this was when it was expected to be a Cat 5 when it came in I was forced to enlighten him that if you don't have cell service it won't work and that if the local TV stations where down and everyone was in the dark odds where cell service probably would be lacking.![]()
Harvey got here after dark, too. Then set up camp for 3 days almost due south of me on the coast. Bastid, as @MamaSaid would say.Starting to get a bit dark here, little breezy but, not so bad. I suspect tonight and tomorrow are going to be quite nautical though.
You'll still have your regular bill, but they won't charge for any overages. They did that for us, too. They've come thru very well. At&t just send text messages to all its Florida customers, from 9-10 till 9-17 free talk, text and data service.

[emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]I love nature,, after Ike took everything and while we were dragging everything out,, I ran across a seahorse looking critter in our house. (sadly dead),,,,,,,,he was tiny,, I kept thinking 'I bet he had big plans of crossing the Gulf'
We were the first people back to our neighborhood,, it was very quiet, like creepy quiet.. as we approached the front door a squirrel came down the tree and looked at us,, then he made a noise,, it was like he was announcing 'the humans are back!' and then suddenly you could hear frogs and other critters.
So we had to live in a storage room off the garage,,,,,but I still had to travel to the partial kitchen every morning to make coffee and have a cig,, this fat raccoon started showing up.. I would feed him cat food and talk to him.........his name was Rocky. This drove my husband crazy,, he would always say 'you dont know if he has rabies',,,,,,,,I would always say,, if he had rabies he would have shown signs by now,, and all he needs is a bathrobe at this point..............hubby not humored......I miss Rocky.
my point is,, find some positive moments,, because you will lean on some of those moments sometimes.
Me too. Every time I look around there is another potted plant to haul in the garage.Mercy I am tired of hauling stuff into the garage.
I didn't think I had that much stuff outside and in the screen room !
Still not done![]()

They are around here, too.Exactly.
But this particular boom truck style is specifically for trimming.
And yes, Asplundh absolutely specializes in trimming around power lines and contracting with power companies.
Funny, I didn't see a single chipper behind any of those trucks.
I suspect they're going to focus on cleaning up power lines and clearing roads and leave the debris to the side for the state(s) to handle later.
Asplundh is a huge company located everywhere in Pennsylvania. Dunno about elsewhere.
Living most of my life there, they're a staple from childhood on.
Weird not seeing them now... like Wawa.

Asplundh is even in little old Farmington, NM. I didn't know they weren't a local operation. They are around here, too.
