Past hour or more we've had a nasty band come in with some heavier rain. Disadvantage we have on the East coast that these come in over the shallow Bahamas and particularly the Gulf Stream picking moisture and building high tops in the NE quadrant.

A couple of times winds topped out and perhaps a couple of waterspouts, one accompanied by a tornado warning on my phone.

This'll be done in another half hour or so as it moves on to PBC. And winds here subsiding nominally 25-30 mph.

You'll likely not see these on the W side with bands coming ashore on the Southern weaker side of the storm.

Some small consolation, I know.

Good luck. :)

Mercy I am tired of hauling stuff into the garage.
I didn't think I had that much stuff outside and in the screen room !
Still not done
I know the feeling  The stepson came over to help with the boarding up, while I worked on picking up everything outside, really didn't beleve I had that much crap all over the yard. We didn't have enough plywood, so we screwed pallets over the windows, and some fold up tables, really had to use what we could round up as there is no getting plywood around here. Got all the windows covered on our house and the office next door, so that is a plus. Looks like we will be getting some of the outer bands by morning here in Sebring, but we are as ready as we can be for it. Well off to bed to get a couple hours of sleep if I can.

Exactly.

But this particular boom truck style is specifically for trimming.

And yes, Asplundh absolutely specializes in trimming around power lines and contracting with power companies.

Funny, I didn't see a single chipper behind any of those trucks.

I suspect they're going to focus on cleaning up power lines and clearing roads and leave the debris to the side for the state(s) to handle later.

Asplundh is a huge company located everywhere in Pennsylvania. Dunno about elsewhere.

Living most of my life there, they're a staple from childhood on.

Weird not seeing them now... like Wawa.

They're all over Virginia too. Handle all the trimming for Virginia Power.

Check out the lightning in the rain band over Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. We've already drugged the hound so all of us, wife, me and the dog can get some sleep. She doesn't handle thunder well at all. Couldn't bother the cat if it struck next to him. He only pitches a grump if the old feed bowl is empty.

Yeah, seems you're catchin a bit of what we saw here. Hopefully minus the spouts. Heard the lightning offshore and crossed my fingers. Didn't last long. Wind now 25-30mph slight sprinkles. Get some z's and set a timer for the next band if you want to catch the show.

I'm only watching for the intracoastal since there's already been quite some runoff and it's near cresting. An old timer confirms my recollection that neither ocean tide surge nor the intra-coastal have \ever crossed AIA at this location in 30 years. But better safe than sorry.

Trying to reassure friends and family up north as we all have both on the W coast that the storm isn't brutalizing the natives…even if our nerves may be a bit frazzled for the buildup. Hopefully no landfall up in Central Fl and this thing dissipates.

Still been relocating my vape and data workstations all day as that room is the weak link for exposure. So I'm whooped. Time for a shower, nitecap and some rest.

Good luck all. :)

About an hour ago I killed 2 :censored: roaches/palmetto bugs running across my living room floor.
Not gonna have this - nope, nope, nope !!!!!

Palmetto bugs, well, okay for now, but a SNAKE????!!!! Yikes!!!! ((((Classy))))

Google tells me it is either a scarlet snake or a scarlet king snake.
I got brave and went out to lift the lid I put on it to look at it.
I'll slide something under it in the morning and take it out to the end of the yard.

It has a camera, I don't know how to use it - that's why I had co-worker take mod pics for me.
Dang, I do good to get a call answered ! Most of the time I hit the wrong button and it tells the caller that I am in a meeting.
