Something I would like to say, in all sincerity, I am soooooo thankful that you are all okay!!!
And, thank God for social media!!
We've been able to keep up with everyone here, and I've been able to find info on FB on areas of FL that haven't been reported on in the news media, thanks to people who posted their pics and informational posts using the "public" option.

Honestly, I cannot wrap my head around how wrecked your state is, from one end to the other.
I *know* you're ALL very strong, and I know you will all get through it, the clean up, and the rebuilding, but it's heartbreaking to see it all.
Please know I am keeping you all in my continued prayers. :)

As you know we got our power, internet and cable came back yesterday…it was good until about 2 hours ago :) when cable and internet started coming and going. AT&T said it is hurricane related. :(
After Katrina our net and cable were seriously unstable for a bout 2 weeks and we are pretty far NORTH of areas directly affected by the storm. It had to do with the grid of the cables and them having to do work down south.

I fugured as much.

And please believe that I was NOT complaing with that post…just reporting. I have nothing to complain about. My house stands and we have power…we're good compared to all those poor people, both a few miles from me and down south who lost everything.

These photos are from about 3-4 miles away from here, in an area that fronts Black Creek and is in a flood plain that hasn't flooded in 50 years.

Oh Bea I did not in any way take it as complaining. I was just providing my past experience so you might have a bit of a guide to plan around. {{{HUGS}}}
Oh, Myrany I didn't think you took it as complaining…but I just wanted everyone to know that I wasn't.

You're a sweetie :wub::wub::wub:

Video is Everglade City as the storm surge was coming in.

A church in Chokoloskee...

Boat dock area in Chokoloskee. Under that metal roof is one of those ice chests, like you see at gas stations, with the two stainless doors, to give you an idea of the depth.
The large area of water is Chokoloskee Bay.

This is what I've found looking at pics up and down the Gulf Coast.
There are more, Chokoloskee is pretty much wrecked too. :(

I can't find the original text, but it said a historical preservation society was notified and sending someone to pick it up. :)
