So I just got back to the house that has no power :0( from driving around half of Lakeland. Probably going to be a week or so without power. It sucks, plus tomorrow I have to go back to work ::thumbs down::
It seems as if the northside drew the short straw on this storm. Northside of Lakeland (country and country boys everywhere. The side of town I was born and raised) has trees down. Looks like we may have a tornado or 2 come through. Of course the strongest part of the eye came right over this side of town. Good thing the boys out here have trucks, tractors, chain saws and a get 'er done attitude. Places are flooded and there are trees laying on roofs and across the roads. Wooden power poles snapped like toothpicks. Here is a pic of a few of the poles.
Drove straight through the middle of town and the southside barely got touched. No power on the northside but the southside (rich side of town) has power, fast food places open with lines out the wazoo.
Needless to say we got hit hard along with other places in central Florida over to the west coast. I heard that this storm is a hurricane that will go down in the record books and they are retiring the name Irma from the list of hurricane names for the future.
