Project X'ers ... I've updated my guide for building on the Project X. It's now a PDF file instead of a gazillion jpg's. Should be easier as it's all in one now.
That is a really nice PDF I just wanted to say thank you very much for making it that must have taken a lot of effort and alot of time the pictures are very clear and the explanation is very good!

@AngeNZ, hey Ange ... how did ya all get my original guide on the front page?

Can we do that with the new PDF guide and get rid of the old there?

Please let me know if I need to do something. Thanks and appreciate it! :)

    I had a secret weapon ;)

Who I think you just found :D

Yay thank you for doing that. DOWNLOADED,

    From,

A nervous soon to be clone owner.

    It looks really helpful.

Thanks Anna! Don't be nervous. It really is no different than any other rta. Honestly it is not hard at all. And I say that with the great respect to those who may feel, otherwise.

SMT has already done the hard work - in his user guide to the Project X :thumb:

And that guide is stickied at the beginning of this whole thread so it's easily found by anyone.

There's always going to be differences in clones - the base will be made in one factory, the tank in another, the o-rings in another, and in another one - they are assembled

Until I win the lottery and can afford high end luxury attys, I'm perfectly happy with my RDA-like flavour galore cloned Project X
Lol, I know. I asked classwife to pin it for us. All I'm trying to say (and maybe I'm not doing a good job) is that, as more of these X clones get bought, more different things pop up about them than originally mentioned or found. And that's simply because SMT and the rest of us all received different clones with different quirks. User error aside. It's kind of late for me. I hope that made more sense.

SMT, I see @classwife already did that for us but for future reference all you have to do is ask her and poof! Like "I dream of Jeannie" she makes your wishes come true:)

    .
Thanks for the response! I gotta tell you I recently bought and tried the 32x3/40g 316L twisted fused clapton wire and I didn't have a good experience using it. It seems like it wasn't creating enough vapor because the wire is too thin. Ive had the best experience so far using the coilology 30x2/40 mtl ni80 fused clapton wire. The best way to use it is a 2.5mm coil at 6 wraps non spaced which is .74 ohms. I vape it at 23 watts.

I find it very puzzling that no one in this thread talks about how finicky this rta is when it comes to coils. Well at least with fused claptons that is. With the coilology and vandy vape fused clapton wire I use I can't do spaced coils at all or it won't wick correctly. What ends up happening is when I vape it theres a slight delay on the crackle and you can tell its not working correctly, then you end up getting burnt hits eventually. If I do 5 wraps non spaced, it works but theres not enough flavor. If I even do 7 wraps non spaced it will have the same wicking problems as the spaced coils. And trust me, Ive tried wicking this thing every way you can possibly think of. Another thing I discovered is the cotton has to be real tight in the coil or the same problems will occur. I grew so frustrated these past couple months trying to get the x to work properly and I only found one way. Im just glad Im able to keep using this cause it puts out great flavor. The only fused clapton coil that works for me is 6 wraps non spaced and I cut the cotton right at the end of the base, do a very light comb at the ends then gently bend it in. I make sure I dont push the cotton in too hard. Then I slice whatever tiny cotton is sticking up on top before I twist the tank on. None of my other rta's are this finicky when it comes to coils. Does anyone know why it acts like this?

ShowMeTwice im curious, How come you use regular wire? I tried using regular Kanthal and ss wire and it seemed like I didn't get alot of flavor. Dont you get way more flavor with fused claptons?

@johnpalley, sorry it took me so long. I wanted to spend some quality time with the Coilology MTL fused clapton ni80 2-30/40 wire. My brother gave me 2 spools of it.

I'm running with a 6 wrap spaced, 2.5 ID coil coming in at 0.72Ω and wicked with cotton. And I also ran it with rayon. No issues with either.

This is after a week with cotton ... pic from just a few minutes ago.

I've run it anywhere from 12-28w with the airflow tightened down, and wide open, and I get as nice a vape, with great flavor, as I do on any of my X's with every wire I've used.

I did some side-by-side testing with the LV 26/36 316L on one X and AVS 26/30 316L on another and for me the flavor and quality of vape is right there compared to the ni80 clapton.

My cotton wick is not very tight, but not loose, in the coil. It's wicking great with no issues. With it like that, as I vape, I hear the "normal" crackling as I do with any of my other RTA's.

    Hope that helps. :)

There are any extension kit for mtl version?
No there is not. However with the standard Project X you can get an excellent MTL vape with the airflow closed down. There are a few here who vape it like that and really enjoy it. I vape mine MTL to a restricted DL. There is a 4ml tank extension for the standard X.

A while back I checked out what parts were interchangeable between standard Project X and the MTL X.

    Hope that helps. :)
