Dad found my juice when I left my jacket in my car while driving his truck. A while back he found out I was smoking and told me to either quit or tell my mother (who had both her parents die from cigarette-caused cancer). I told him I quit but never did, since I moved out for college soon after. Fast forward to when he confronted me about the juice, he was kinda hard headed about it. Your usual response from people who don't know the truth behind them. I remember him saying something along the lines of "your still inhaling all that **** into your lungs". Anyway he told my mother, and I had to explain to her that I had been smoking but quit using vaping, even showing her my setup. She's still kinda "eh" about the whole thing, but wasn't mad or anything. I think a lot of it comes from not knowing anything about them. I don't know if she would handle me vaping in front of her really well though haha

My family has been pretty excited about my switch from smoking to vaping. I've been pretty excited about it too... It's absolutely the most successful method yet to keep me from smoking. I was smoking a pack a day at least for the past 21 years. So yeah, everyone is happy :) And I've been able to get around a dozen people to give up smoking since I started only a couple of months ago! So that's even better

Ditto, teggykid952. My mother and I did have a pretty heated argument about it initially, and it was mostly based on her misconceptions about nicotine. I told her she needed to do the research for herself since she wouldn't believe me. It strikes me that a vast majority of people are under the impression that nicotine is the killer carcinogen, which couldn't be further from the truth as concerns smoking tobacco. I was adamant that I feel quite safe vaping and that not only has it not jeopardized my health, it has improved it, as I am enjoying life much more now, which is helping me be a more productive person.
I think the "proof's in the pudding" and she will see in time that there's nothing to get all worried about.
But yeah, I'm not exactly gonna be vaping in the living room either. :)

Yeah I don't think I'd have the cojones to try that one. Though, if she walked in on me doing it when I visit the house I don't think she'd be that upset about it. But flat out doing it in front of her... probably not so good. It's just that there hasn't been enough truthful publicity about it to give people a knowledgeable gap between vaping and smoking

Family were dubious at first. Seemed like they perceived it as some fancy over the top way to still actually smoke tobacco. Once I explained how it actually works they calmed down entirely and now don't mind me vaping. They are confused as to why I carry around a big old tube Mod instead of a cigalike. The longer battery life blah blah blah speech falls on deaf ears.

Friends aren't surprised, as this really just kind of fits my MO (always fiddling with technology, collecting oddities and smoking). Whenever were drunk as a group the PVs start making their rounds. Only one other person I kinda know has an ecig (V4L) and I've just ordered him a CVI v1 through a co-op to step up.

I can dig that, Dana. My mom has always had an uncanny intuition, and is pretty hard to keep secrets from. I always had to go to ridiculous lengths to hide things from her when I was younger and involved in a lot of less-than-legal activities. The cat eventually made its way out of that ugly bag, which caused her to be suspicious of every move I made for years.
Those days have long since passed for me, thank God, and I eventually did regain her trust, but anytime something like this comes up I can't help but think that it brings back those memories for her. That's why it was such a relief that she didn't completely go nuts when I told her about my vaping.

You sure that first line isn't a little askew?
ALL CAPS!

Request permission to be candid? Granted:

Which line, DOOM, you mean "my mother lives with me..."? No, it's quite accurate. She lives with me now, in my house. I pay all of her expenses as well as my own. As much as those tables have turned, she's still my mom, and I respect her as such! It is weird, in those times when she questions my actions and I feel like a kid again, but I don't resent it. It just kinda is what it is. Life is messy!

I was a closet vaper myself for a while. My parents thought I quit smoking ananlogs about a year ago (which I didn't at the time). So, it was hard for me to tell them that I just started vaping out of the blue. About a week ago, I broke down and told them the truth. I explained everything to them, such as my setups, ejuice, etc. Surprisingly enough, they accepted my new hobby/lifestyle and now I can vape freely around them. This is great because we have a family business and as I write this, I am happyly vaping away. The truth will set you free!!!
