We have a pretty hectic household, 4 home schooled children, jobs, and an active social life... Smoking was taking a toll on our family, financially and physically. We had pressure from every where to quit...so the switch to vaping was widely accepted by our friends and family.
We frequent two pubs and we made sure to ask before we vaped in them, but turns out...worst case scenario, you spend your whole night telling people all about your vaping gear... sometimes letting people try it. You become a serious ripple effect in the marketing system of this healthier option of nicotine absorption.
After awhile you get to a point where you want what you want and vape where you want. We still go outside with the leper like smokers... because fresh air is good...and how else can you catch up on water cooler gossip... but once it is established that I can vape some where...you will find me vaping in and outside the establishment. We've been off analogs for near a month.

I felt a bit weird with my first ecig because it looked like a cigarette so of course people thought I was smoking. But I reduced that pariah feeling by switching to non-white batteries with non-red LED and now amazingly I don't give a crap. I don't get in anyone's face with it - I keep a polite distance from strangers - but I am not afraid to vape in public. But I do not vape visibly where smoking is not allowed - I don't like confrontation. if I am in some place for long enough that I need a vape, I sneak a vape in the bathroom.

I'm just starting, tomarrow will be a week vaping, but yeah I'm totally in the closet. I haven't even told any friends or family whats up yet.

Having my mom over to my place this weekend to see if she can notice any thing different, smells... me not going outside to smoke etc...

Similar reasons, just don't want to have to answer peoples questions... ever... lol.

Peace, Live Long, and Vape.

Re questions - I thought I would feel that way but after vaping where people could see my I realized that if you are not in their face most people mind their own business. Even smokers (strangers) who I sort of hope will ask about it so I can tell them ecigs work - they usually ignore me. Only if I go right next to somebody who's smoking and vape will they ask "what's that - is that one of those things?".

Maybe it depends on where you live though - maybe if you live somewhere where everybody knows most people around them and is into everyone else's business, that would certainly be different from where I live.

I felt a little awkward when I first started vaping. That lasted about a week. But every reaction I've had from anyone who even noticed what I was doing has been positive. Sometimes funny, like the two street people who cracked up when they saw me vaping as I walked across the parking lot at work, " Oh, Lord, girl, we thought you was smokin' a pipe!" A lot of people stop and ask me about it, and are interested and excited by something that might help them or someone they love to escape the cancer sticks.

I quit a 40 year smoking habit that thought I could never give up. I feel good, look good and smell good and I can finally hope that I might get to enjoy a healthy old age. I feel like I've been the recipient of a miracle, and I welcome every chance I get to share that miracle with others. Vape proud, people!

I think it's different in the UK. I got so tired of being harassed by the police and random people making wisecracks about what I'm "smoking" that I got a volt in that looks like a cigarette and became a closet vaper.

I'd sooner everyone thought I was smoking a cigarette because everyone smokes here. Everyone has either smoked, smokes or knows a smoker. There aren't anti's, if there are they're a severe minority and I've never met one.

I really don't want to be "that guy" that walks around taking flack for vaping so people "learn about them and they become accepted as a result". If smoking wasn't acceptable in public then I'd probably still vape on a cig lookalike.

Dark humour is a speciality in Scotland, which I'm cool with but after so many bad druggie jokes and people just not minding their own business I'm back in the closet.

I don't know any other vapers, no one who's come up and ripped me a new one for the "crack pipe/weird thing" I'm "smoking" has started vaping and no one I've told about it vapes or has an interest in switching. Maybe someday.

update: So I went on the date...he didnt smoke in front of me ( I felt kinda bad about that...I mean a week ago I was smoking too) but I did vape in front of him. He didnt say much about it. He just told me about a guy at work who does it during his 12 hour shift, in order to get threw the shift. I only felt a little funny because he refrained and I didnt. Aside from all that I felt comfortable vaping. I think its a matter of getting use to it. I know I'm not doing anything wrong but everyone else doesnt really know that.

ps. I had a good time and there will be a second date..haha

vaping my little heart out right this minute <3
