I know I've only spent a day with my new protege, but... I just bought a second one (and some extra buttons just in case).

I just don't want to think about being without a working one of these awesome kits. And for the price, I figure it's a bargain.

Plus... they're cheaper than my GreenSmoke kits and I have two of those


I've already taken it apart and if I ever have to replace a button, it looks like a cinch, so I should now be set until I ever quit vaping

The tact switches in the Prodigy and Protege are a breeze to change.
Actually kinda fun but, I like tinkering with things.

Even with the few failures of the little switches, it's still a very good design. Unless you short the unit out or something drastic happens i think they're fine.
I will get 4 manuals though (2 Protege's and 2 Prodigy's)

I have some switches with the rubber housing and some that are hard plastic. I haven't figured out how to get the switch out of either one, and I'm chicken to just start yanking!

I have a Prodigy and absolutely LOVE it. I have had it since they came out. I bought a spare switch to have on hand as it seems to be the only thing that could go bad on this baby! I bought a Protge for my mom and she loves it too. I read the PS forum often but I must have missed something. What is the new manual switch? Thanks.

No problem, I'm very happy with this little bugger and I'll definitely pick up a couple of those switches when they are available. Make sure you have a thousand or so, so we don't have to wait too long for 'em

Yes, very nifty. Have to careful soldering that close to the delrin I suppose.

Yes, very nifty. Have to careful soldering that close to the delrin I suppose.

YUP ... Very careful ... We do snag the delrin once in a while. But the soldering iron is literally on the brass/bent down leads for .25 seconds ... We try to make it a quick!

I have not received my protoge as of yet. but i know its in the mail cause i got the shipping notice....But i have been reading you threads for quite sometime and have not come across any thing about a new manual switch,but then again i coild have very easily overlooked it some how...Can you please point me in the right direction or explain exactly what that is.........

This is the latest I saw.

Will definitely look in to it Max ... Our Mechanical switch prototypes should be done soon. We tried 1 approach with disc springs, however it needed roughly 4lbs. of pressure to activate ... A bit tough! We are trying an approach much like yours now Monk!

Will keep you all posted! The mechanical switch will be available for the New Prodigy and Protege for those interested.

Well, yeah... I certainly hope you'll have Prodigy V2 (or at least the new manual switches, if you are doing those for the Prodigy) before Christmas. I'm sure you already know this, but you'd be CRAZY not to have a bunch of stuff ready for the Christmas season. It's when a lot of businesses make their highest number of sales for the year.
