Well I cancelled my order for the istick 50w and decided to jump in with both feet on the Vapor Shark rDNA 40. I've recently started using a Magma Clone rda, along with several RTAs I love, and like the idea of not tasting burnt cotton when it's time to drip. I think the istick is a great device but I recently got the 30w and to be honest, it works perfectly for an out-and-about device. I wanted something I can use when building and this fits the bill perfectly.

Now to my question...Vapor Shark offered NI200 but only in 30awg and above. I'm used to using 28awg and occasionally 30awg kanthal. Is there some issues with 28awg NI200 or should I get the 30awg and have at it? Thanks all!!!

Hey Boomer, I am thinking about jumping up a step as well and had the 50w istick in mind. Interesting to see you go w/ the VaporShark 40w. I got my tobh atty last week and well...Im kinda on the fence about it. Built a 1.4 coil and juiced it up. Its pretty flavorful but....I don't care much for it when the juice runs out and you get a hit of burnt wick....YUCK! I do like the idea of the rta's. To have the ability to build your own coil and have a tank to feed it is pretty cool and is a path I will probably take soon. Curious though about your decision to go with a lower watt box verses the higher 50w. Am I missing something?

The DNA40 has temperature control, meaning that you'll never get a dry hit (if you use nickel wire and set it up correctly). OP might have chosen the rDNA for some other reason, just pointing out one of the major benefits of the device :)

I am the proud owner of 2 rDNA40 VS. Love, love, love them! I've been building with 32, 30, and 28ga nickel. I find it easier with the 28 but have built with all three with success. Check out the nickel build thread as well as the DNA40 thread and the VS rDNA40 thread. Lots of great info and everyone is more than happy to give advice on what is working for them.

Kiwi has some sick builds with twisted 30ga nickel.

28g will just require more wraps. Getting duals into a magma with 28g might be challenging due to the number of wraps required to get up to a resistance that is within spec. I forget the number of wraps needed to build duals above .10 but it's in the mid teens. I like to use either 30g spaced or twisted 32g micro coils when building duals.

You're going to love the dna40! Don't hesisptate to reach out for help it's your builds if you need it, nickel can be finicky. The nickel builds thread is a wealth of knowledge.
