I noticed too that the hit was different and took time to get used to, but if you stick with it, you will get used to it, you body will adjust. The difference I believe is inhaling smoke is warmer and dryer and your lungs are used to this. It feels right. vaping is cooler moister particles more like steam. Your lungs don't expect this moister stuff and it feels uncomfortable. It usually takes about a week. At least that's how it seemed to me when I started. I didn't want to quit either, I only didn't want to kill myself with cigarettes. That's the beauty of vaping once you get used to it, you get all the stuff you need and none or very little of the harm.

Like others have said everyone reacts to different e-cig stuff differently. If your serious about not winding up a death by smoking statistic one day, stick with it and try different things. Keep asking questions and one day you will find what works for you. it takes some folks a while to find thier right combo so don't get discouraged. We have all been where you are and we are here to help anytime.

JCH, you have the information for a successful transition to vaping. There were some really good information posts that covered a lot of ground. The Ego batteries you have are a solid foundation for more variations than you would imagine.

The Tank recommendation was a good one. You can fill up a Mega Type B Tank that holds almost 3ml of juice and go all day. The average person will vape about 3-5ml a day. The tanks are also easy to fill, seal, and toss in the console for a spare, along with a spare battery.

The new tanks have a silicone end cap that reportedly solves most of the issues with the tank cartridge and atomizer. The taste and vapor production border on outstanding.

Boge cartomizers are also a good way to experience good taste and relative ease in carrying spares for the day. Each holds 1ml or more of juice and they come with silicone end caps that prevent leaks. You can fill up 2 of these and get through the work day away from home.

A little patience and some trials of the options available to you can help you quit smoking or at least cut down dramatically. Almost everyone new vaper reports cutting down to a few cigs a day and some never touch another one. It's very easy to cut down to 4 or 5 cigs per day while vaping.

Ego-T tanks that fit your Ego battery are here. You will need a pack of tanks and an atomizer to get started. It's a two piece system with the EGO-T atomizer and a tank that you fill and insert. To fill them, I recommend a syringe. Some people drip in the hole made when you install a tank on an atomizer.

Okay so, the ego Tanks? Or cartomizers? Are they not the same thing? Drip tip for a 510?

The taste I'm talking about is the same I've had with the 401, its this tingy aftertaste that stays with me even after i have 2 or 3 analogs, its so gross. Its the same nasty tinge through all the liquids, like a metallic? kind of taste? I cant really describe it as Ive never really tasted anything like it before.

And the throat hit doesn't hurt, its like a sudden choking feeling, but not really, I can't describe it well at all.

You shouldn't be getting a metallic taste, nor choking. Something is wrong.

1) Crap juice?
2) Atty too dry?
3) burning plastic/filler/whatever

There is an irritating learning curve with this stuff. Don't give up... you don't have to quit instantly until you figure it out. You should be able to make this work before you end up having to go buy a bunch more crap and still get frustrated. The suggestions above are good ones, but subjective, and just swapping out hardware is not always the answer.

IDK much about those cone atomizers, but maybe try this:

1) Blow out the atomizer.... unscrew it and blow thorough the mouth end with a napkin over the threads. Clean it off... screw back in.
2) Drip 3 drops of liquid directly into the atomizer... ignore the cart for the moment.
3) now put 1 drop on the filler of the cart.

Vape. Any better?

Also... check and make sure that:

a) the filler in the cart is wet (it should look like a shushy... not a puddle)
b) there's not melted plastic on the cart... a bad sign.

The nicotine has a peppery taste... but shouldn't be too bad. Make sure you shake up the bottle of juice if you ordered it that way. Some flavors are stronger than others too. Also some people are sensitive to PG/VG and/or flavors.

Hey there JCH, I personally prefer the Dual Coil cartomizer on my Ego Batteries, but if you want to try an Ego Tank atty I can surely mail you one with an unopened Tank so you can fill it yourself with your juice of choice. I have several that I do not use anymore and only keep as back ups in case something goes wrong with my other equipment. The Ego T is what I personally used to get off of cigarettes, and although I have other more advanced things that I use now but I do still use my Ego Batteries with the dual coil cartomizers every day for my non all day flavors.

I would be honored to send you a Tank atty and a Dual Coil Cartomizer if you want to give one a try though just PM me an address and I will get it in the Mail ASAP;
Nate aka Darth Vapor

What am I missing?

Sounds like a positive attitude. Within 2 days of using my e-Go i quit an 8-10 year give or take 1-1.5 PAD habit. I wanted to make it work, I wanted to quit. It helps a lot to have the fire in the belly going, that you want to stop smoking and be healthier. Also... not for nothin... a drip tip, LR atty, and a pack of 2.0 BOGE cartos do wonders.... As well as 60-80PG ratio juice. Good luck. If you really really want it, hopefully you can get to vaping glory.

Hi,

I'm of the opinion that you have to want this to work, plus, try not to look for excuses to return to analogue cigarettes. Now, this isn't a criticism although it might seem like it, I smoked on and off for 30 Years. Within this period I completely stopped (no sneakys) for 3 Years and then thought I could have the occasional cigar, then the odd cigarette and, I guess, like a lot of us, found myself smoking a pack a day.

I also think there is something in cigarette smoke to increase the intensity of the experience I've seen it described as: Smoking is to Vaping as crack ....... is to normal ......., I realise the language is a bit emotive but you get the idea, possible as Krispy Kreme doughnuts are to regular doughnuts.

As suggested by others I would get some Boge 2 ohm cartomizers, you can fill them using the condom method (just search youtube there are plenty of demonstrations) also get some sample e-juices either all VG or all PG and also some a mixture of the two, this way you can find out if you are PG or VG intolerant, I would also get them in a variety of nicotine strength ranging from 6mg all the way up to 36mg.

10 x cartomizers will cost you max $20.00 / 10 x 5ml $30 to $50 - I think I'm giving you worst case costings but you'll have to troll though the vendors.

Hope this helps and good luck.

As others have said, this is the easiest way to quit smokng we've found. Unfortunately, it's not effortless. There's a learning curve with the hardware. You have to find the right juice and nic level and for most of us there's an adjustment as our bodies and minds miss some of the ingredients in tobacco that aren't there with PVs. The reality is that the only thing that's just like a cigarette is another cigarette. If that's a requirement for you, then you really aren't ready.

Another thing...as you quit, you will likely have some withdrawal symptoms. Some people have massive symptoms...others (like me) none at all. But your body will have to flush the toxins out of your system, and those symptoms are exactly a sign of that.

Your taste is another thing. Many of us find that our taste buds have been hammered by smoking. It takes a bit to get 'em back. You might try vaping some straight PG or VG and see if you experience the same choking sensation. Some folks (albeit very few) have allergic reactions to PG or VG.

Another positive thing you can do to quicken the detox is to drink massive amounts of water...as much as you can handle, eat lots of bananas and put yourself on a regimen of multi vitamins. This helps a lot.

You can do this...but you have to want to!

So I just got my Ego ecig, and I was all excited to try it after having bought a M104 and using it about twice, then putting it away in a drawer forever.

Well its exactly the same to me as the M104, or whatever it was, I'm so disappointed.

I don't understand why people like/praise these things so much? They're just a gimmick to me. The throat hit hurts; its nothing like a real cigarette hit, it has an awful taste < i have like 7 different flavors> The absolute pain of refilling these stupid things is enough to make me never want to quit smoking.

What am I missing?

Sounds to me like you are making excuses to go back to smoking.

When I first started vaping, I noticed a perfume like taste in a lot of juices. Like most new vapers, I bought an assortment of various hand picked juices and found some good and others not so good. The juice one person raves about may just be barely passable to you. There's a lot of personal choice in taste.

RY4 is a common favorite and I like RY4. I has a different personality in different atomizers. I have some Awesome Vapor RY4 that is really good in a tank atty or a 510 atty. In a Boge LR carto, it's strong and a little hard on the throat. In a CE2 clearomizer, it's good stuff.

If you like mild throat hit with lots of vapor, try some Backwoods Brew Virginia. It's a mild tobacco type vape with a hint of Winston sweetness. I like BWB Malty Toffee, although my taste buds don't detect it like they used to. It's still a good vape. BWB Applewood is another mild vape with a hearty apple aroma. It's popular among ECF vapers. BWB juices are all 70pg/30vg with the exception of a couple of sweet flavors. Those are 60/vg/40pg.

Don't give up....working through the learning curve is worth it. It has been so long since I've have used a similar set up, that any advice I give, is probably worthless (though I do agree that your cart is probably too dry and that makes for a very unpleasant vape).

However...I just wanted to point out that no one expects you to make the transition right away. Some people can switch on the first day....some after 4 weeks. It took me 6 months to make the transition...partly because i wasn't ready to give up smoking, and partly because I hadn't found what worked for me (which is different for everyone). And for me, part of my problem was that I was still sneaking smokes here & there...which interferes with the flavor, the physical sensation & level of satisfaction. It wasn't until I had been without a cigarette for a few weeks before I truly felt comfortable with my new habit. Just for reference, I have been smoke free for just over a year now...started vaping in March of 2010, after 25 years of smoking 1.5 ppd.

Take your time, slow down your drags & keep your atty/cart wetter....you will get there when you're ready. :)

Sounds like you being (insert censored words here).

That's not the way it sounds to me wdave is right people who are not ready to quit will make up excuses until they come to terms with the fact that the really need to quit
