See that's the only thing I like about my SE Gold is that it's has a similar look to a analog (appearance) even though mine is pink..... (my guy just HAD to get the black one..... yay) I find it a good and a bad thing though. Good if you don't want a bunch of people coming out to you with zillions of questions, but bad because it doesn't really get people's attention unless you pocket it and they think "oh crap that's going to burn!"

I do get a few girls coming up to me saying "omg its a pink cigarette! where did you get it?" I just give them a brief information about it, and I try not to bring up SE as "the best" but I tell them that its my first personal vaporizer and its an alternative for smoking. I have had good customer service with my e-cig guy and for starters it has helped me out. (I wish I had went for janty or 510 though.) I would also suggest to them different types of e-cigs that I've heard good reviews on. Making fliers or cards about them also helps save the time of talking about it.

i still dont have the balls to vape inside the bar. i have to go outside with the smokers. they ask me about it and they always say just do it inside. maybe i might have to do it since its getting really cold in chicago..

did anybody tried vaping inside the movie theater?

Just for other people sake, cover the dang LED. I would have to spew plumes of vapor in your face for lighting up my movie lol.

I don't hide it at all. I want everyone to notice it if they can. I don't walk up to people and say, "hey, wanna watch me vape this?" or anything but, I definitely welcome looks, questions, and comments. I reply to everything.
If I notice someone looking at me with an inquisitive eye, I actually speak first... then see that they are interested. Sometimes they are non-smokers but saw my "light" and "smoke" and wondered what kind of new cigarette it was. I explain, they think "oh! so cool" and some start talking about people they know or love who might be interested... (I usually have a card to give out from one of my suppliers but I am out now, need more)
If we hide our vaping, how will it ever become accepted as okay? I will admit, just because of the "cool" factor, I would be careful around children. They are very impressionable. But people with emphysema have to walk around with their oxygen tank... they don't "hide" it, although I think many want to. How embarrassing is it that you smoked your lungs to death?? I am proud that this is helping me kick the tobacco.

Well, I smoked in the theatre. Noone noticed and it didnt really embarass me. It is more the walking down the street, in a group of friend/people that worries me. When I am sure to be noticed.

Meh, they can all get used to it though.... because I am NOT going back to smoking.
Good for you Shanta... I work in the hospital and have been vaping on a screwdriver MOD for about two months. All hospitals have adopted a no smoking clause for their employees and deemed that the Hospital, to include the building and the grounds that the hospital is on, are non-smoking areas. Some go as far, which is my hospital in this case, to not allow employees to smoke while on premises and have released those employees that would not submit to these intentions.
I had already started vaping before our deadline to no longer smoke on hospital premises... until the deadline, I still went to the smoking area to vape with the smokers ... I got 16 people converted to vaping and we all do so on our breaks inside the hospital. Well, two weeks ago .. one of the hospital administration directors pulled me aside and ask why I was smoking on hospital grounds.
I sat down with him and told him all about the e-cig.. what its benefits are and how it doesn't have an odor or release second hand smoke that is toxic to others around you as tobacco products that do.
He asked me and gave me a month to get everyone together in the hospital, employees that is, who vape and that he wanted to get a conference together to introduce to his overhead and chair of the committee that oversees the operations of the hospital.
Now, they are talking about putting in a vaping lounge and using this as a method to help the other smokers in the hospital that still work there beyond the deadline but are still smokers. I have heard that they are going to contact the previous employees that have been released from the hospital to see if this option works for them, as well.

My point, along with several in this thread is.... Even though it embarrasses you at times in public to vape.. just keep your head high and remeber that you do this for you... and nobody else. You may have second hand reasons to quit for your kids, your husband, your friends, and the list can go on.. but, you quit for your benefits in health in the long run. What others around you can possibly think has nothing to do with your own concerns and therefore, should not in the least carry any impact in what you do.
Believe me, None smokers don't understand... and Smokers, well they should have a little bit more of a heavy heart into the possibility that the e-cig can change their Life. I truly believe that If we remain confident in our choice to vape and demonstrate that without any regard for what others think in public, More smokers will parade in droves to take this up and leave that crappy .... behind. Better yet, It will become well known overall and soon, a little further down the road.... It will be a commonplace to see people vaping on every corner.

Just my $0.02 worth and I hope it helps.

Sincerely,
Tom

God forbid i would be seen vaping. What if people thought "hey, that guy is not ruining his health proper," oh the shame.

Wow, that was really rude.

Thanks for all the replies you guys! I went to a vapor meeting with a bunch of people and we vaped right there in the middle of the restaurant, noone said anything negative.. if fact a few people were very interested in trying for themselves. I think I found power in numbers there, and haven't been as self-concious lately.

Like all new things, it takes some getting used to. Awesome to hear the stories of employers/businesses become vapor friendly!

You should feel the same way you felt when you smoked.. Look at it this way,,, your a outcast... ha.
Just do what you need and want to do.. you are not breaking any laws, you have a right to vape just as much as someone has a right not to.
I personally am on a mission to make us vapers, fight for our rights. As much as we know its the right thing for us.. there seems to be higher powers that think it is not..
Ok.. so do it... do it all night long...

When you think about it, we should be more embarrassed to be seen smoking a cigarette than an e-cig as its a far more nonsensical thing to be doing. But I'm the same as you, I feel uneasy with the fact I may draw attention I don't really want. I like to think its a feeling that will diminish over time. In the meantime I use an orange LED analog-size e-cig.

It would help if I didn't seem to be the only one in my town that uses one, but I'll keep right on using it. In a few months or years when they are commonplace I'll probably kick myself that I didn't make more of a show of it and grab all the attention while I could :D

I've been following this thread with some interest.

Strikes me that those who are "ashamed" or "embarrassed" seem to be inherently shy people, while those who don't care seem to be more outgoing.

Personally I don't care. I use M401/2s exclusively now & the only time (other than when I'm DJing) that somebody has approached me about them was outside a pub that doesn't allow vaping indoors & the only reason I was approached was because of the size colour & the blue LED on the end. I was using my now redundant Titan 510.

Nobody has ever said anything to me about my M series e-cigs regardless of colour or LED colour.

Hehe, perhaps I unintentionally painted myself as a shy person. I am not shy at all.... but I was/am very aware of how my actions would affect others. I like to think of this as being polite though, not shy.

Since posting this thread, I must say that I have been a bit more open about vaping. I still get anxious because I do NOT want to get in a confrontation and not be prepared to explain vaping in a positive way. So far so good, so hopefully it remains that way.

I vape wherever, grocery store (not around a lot of people) but if theres 3 people in the isle, Ill vape. I try to be respectful but I just put on my big girl panties and vape when the mood strikes. If someone wants to say that it bothers them and if explaing what it is and they still dont get it i dont push the issue. Thier loss. Just my opinion
