One other story, not exactly public, and not exactly vaping, also probably saying more about me than you need to know. But my sister came by my house one day and got all upset because she thought I was using again. We've both had are narcotics problems more than a decade ago. I didn't immediately realize where she got this idea from, but it turns out I had syringes (from mixing DIY ejuice) on my kitchen counter. I had to show her that they weren't even sharp to calm her down. Then of course she just had to try some of the flavors I was making, and found she liked vaping.

Here's my story...

My husband and I were at a music performance and went outside to vape at intermission. We were leaning against a wall outside the venue, and a highly pierced, tattooed, and "multi-haired" (shaved, braided, multi-colored, etc) young woman came out and stood by us. This was in Berkeley, so it's not that unusual, but she was a little over the top. "I'm going to stand by you," she announced. "So people will think I'm using an e-cigarette, too. I'm not, though! Mine's different stuff!" and she blew a big cloud. Yep, it was different stuff. She told us a long story about how she was from Colorado, where it's legal, and how she'd been following the band we were seeing for 6 months, but she kept missing the shows (?!?) and if she stood by us, she could blend in. Anyway, a group of people walked by us, and a woman looked at us, then paused. "Are those those e-cigarette things I've been hearing about?" she asked. "Yes, they are," my husband and I answered. "Not mine! Mine's h@sh!!" our new "friend" shouted. Um, yeah. Way to "blend in".

People like that are just not doing us vapers any favors in the public acceptance arena.

What surprises me most is the total lack of reaction from most people. Most people might recognize those little ecigs that they sell at the drug store but not the flashlight sized mods most of us use. But I see very little reaction from most people. I don't know they think I am doing something illegal and they pretend not to see, simply polite, or totally oblivious. But they weren't polite or oblivious when I was smoking.

Sounds like that chicks brain was totally fried! But then again, you did mention you were at Berkley (Home of the Naked People Living in the Trees), lol...

Nope, no funny or amusing stories here. Just joking comments about my APV looking like a hookah pipe or "other" kind of pipe. My MD respectfully calls my Provari a water pipe.

LMAO!!! I have a couple good ones, usually involving old people (oldies but goodies, of course!), but if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me "is that one of those internet cigarettes, or are you smoking weed?!" i'd have about 8 bucks!!! :D

I agree, funny how that works? I can walk into a walmart (or meijers here in michigan) and nobody says a word, or even pays attention...but when they get to the door they're all up in arms about the dude smoking 10 feet away....glad i'm not that dude anymore!!

I've had people cheer me on or give me thumbs up a few times while driving... unfortunately I think it was for the wrong reason every time. I'm in Humboldt county, so you can probably guess what they thought I was doing. Each time the people cheering me on had the look of people who would be into that sort of thing... Who knows, maybe they were just happy to see that I quit smoking though.

I was in the local tattoo shop while my husband was getting a tat. The owner just happened to look up at my black Provari with a black carto tank. He was quick to say you can't smoke edit in here! I calmly told him it was just an e cig and he said it just caught him off guard. I didn't care. I was just holding it. He let me vape in there though. Good thing.. The tat took 3 hours.
