Not really, I just wanted to show off the lab that rescued us today. We lost our beloved lab in April to cancer and vowed to never go through that again.

Yay! Good for you. Nothing better than coming home to an excited greeting :)

I think that, more than anything, has been the thing I missed the most over that last 6 months of not having a dog. Every night, when I pulled into the garage and got out, I would miss the sound of a big old tail thumping on the wall in the house. Then, my wife would always holler "Why are you coming home half drunk?" and I would tell her "Because I ran out of money."

Hahahahaha!

I love the every little simple thing is "My favorite thing!" accompanied by much wagging of the tail.

She's beautiful! So nice to think of her settling into her new happy life!
Such total and utterly unconditional love ..nothing like it! :)

As the vet said to ours when we asked him to check her over at 7 weeks old: 'You've fallen on your feet here girl!'
Never been quite sure who exactly did fall on their feet with this one though - it's a two way thing and I adore her.

WTG on getting a rescue. We have three, have had many rescues over the years, including the cutie in my avi who is a spoiled princess now.

Rescue dogs are special. They've almost always been through less than desirable circumstances and are so appreciative of the little things and uber faithful.

Congrats on the new family member!

We had a 'rescue' ..cost us an overnight trip & £600, but she was the tiniest and most in need little scrap we ever saw (undersized red toy poodle). 1 year old, twisted spine due to a hip disease and a terrible skin problem - malnutrition very apparent. The affluent breeders that imported her realised they couldn't show her, so neglected her, and she'd never had a bowl of food all to herself ..took 6 months to get her used to that.
The vet looked at her and asked 'what on earth is it - take it back!' He was joking, but merely told us to go away, insure her and bring her back when she'd put some weight on. Gave us the name of a shampoo and was gone. 5 months later we understood - she had a diseased femur along with the chronic skin problem, and it took costly surgery which he did perfectly, to have her straight and walking properly. The skin improved but it didn't go away, so needed constant treatment.
She got sick though 6.5 years later as her immune system was wrecked, and slipped away very early one morning. We still get tears for that sweet little soul, but she was loved a whole lot.

Everyone should have a dog in their life as most dogs are better than most people.
So true! They're good for the soul.
