I echo. Nice to know what it WAS intended for.
Two simple thing that might improve your vapor, first the little silicone tube on the top of the atty has a top and a bottom. Put it on upside down and it won't wick properly. Second get a piece of 100% cotton, yarn, string, cheesecloth about the diameter of the stock wicks, (boil it clean if necessary) and lay it across the coil before replacing the silicone plug. It will improve the wicking greatly, take away the burn...![]()
Ok sorry that i haven't reported back as i would have liked but nonetheless my nova has been cleaned and yes i do have a regular cleaning regime for ALL my vape gear, but back to the matter at hand. I did a vodka bath for a about 30 mins, let it dry, and now i'm not getting enough vapor to even tell if it tastes burnt or not. It may be the pomegranate juice that im using or the devices that i've tried it on. So far ive only tried it on my twist, my brothers apollo vtube, and my dads ego yet i'm still not getting enough vapor from any of these devices. I would like to try it on a provari but due to time constraints, I can't head to my local vape shop and use theirs.
Is this that extra string that they tell you to remove in all the youtube videos I've watched? Always wondered why it was there if they just tell you to remove it.
I clean my ViVis every two days. I clean as Bronze suggested and let the coil (not an atty, by the way) dry on a paper towel for a day. Not a problem though because I rotate coils. I have several tanks, so i am cleaning at least one or two every night. Your ViVi (or Mini) is your friend. Pamper it and it will not betray you.
One thing to note after doing a dry burn it has been recommended on another thread to rinse the head again to remove all the gunk that you just burned off so that it is not on the coil to give a burnt taste. The way i clean mine is to just rinse them under warm to hot water then let them dry if the coil looks gunked i dry burn if not i dont. I have 2 mini's and one full sized and do them all that way i do have 5 heads between them and just rotate them around. I have changed the wick and coil on one of the 2.4ohm ones out with a 3.0ohm coil for a Hyper SRT coil and it works wonderfully and is prewound YMMV on that tho will be making my own soon. Hope this helps.![]()
also, dry off the area inside the top cap that becomes visible when you remove the drip tip. i get backwash in there sometimes. that could also be a source of your gurgle. also, this should be a regular place for you to wipe clean. the backwash can roll back down into the tank, and im pretty sure vaping backwash isnt too high on anybodys list of things to do.
So I was getting fed up with having to pull my drip tips ever so often to wipe out that condensation and started digging in the forum one night at work. Someone had posted about it and said adapt your drawing style. In other words, let off the power button just one second before you stop drawing. That way you draw just about all that extra vapor out of that recessed area. Problem reduced by probably 90%. Such a simple thing. Still need to wipe it out on occasion. Now I find my self drawing that way even on my carto/tanks. ymmv.
cheers,

as far as the smok tech screwtank vs the vision vivi nova goes, i am about to find out. i really dig my novas so im giving the smok one a try. smok does have great cartos, so maybe their tank is great too. ive been hearing good things. should be right on par or possibly better than the nova.
Ok, I've had enough of my Nova... I give in. I think they all need to be thrown away (or at least heavily modded-rewound, rewicked, etc).
Here's why:
The coils are just not made well. At the best voltage level for the given coils' resistance, they burn up.
The wicks do not work well enough to keep the coils wet.
The tank requires modification and fiddling, and even with said modification does not work as intended. I have still been unable to get a good taste out of it for any length of time.
The modification required to *help* with the burnt taste is potentially dangerous to the user and the equipment that the tank is on.
I've tried every atty sent with the device. I've tried every suggestion on the forum threads for modding and cleaning (except cotton wicks-no, I won't go there, this thing should work as intended without that kind of modification), including my own. The silica wicks just do not do a good enough job; It is an inherent design flaw that really needs to be fixed before the tank will ever work correctly. I am definitely ...... right now, and rightly so- I just lost $12 on a tank that doesn't work. It sucks.
Maybe I'll rebuild the whole coil assemblies some day, but for now, I'll have to stick with the smoktech units that also kind of suck, in different ways- but at least THEY give me decent draws, with no burnt taste.
Well, if I were you, I'd do the same thing. I am vaping mine right now (as I have all day) and I haven't had a lick of trouble. Factory wicks, factory coils and all. You are just suffering from a bad case of Novaitis for some one reason or another. Wish it could be explained. What kind of juice are you running through it?
BTW, is it a genuine Vivi Nova or a knockoff possibly? Where'd you get it?
You know what, I just won my first contest here on the boards, so my night actually just got a heck of a lot better...![]()
...anyway, I got it from litecig, who I've been happy with thus far as far as genuine products are concerned. I'm most surprised that my 2.8 ohm coil with the different wick-style has the exact SAME problem as the LR coils! It's so weird.
Please let me know because my local shop is now carrying the screwtank and I want to know before buying it
Yeah, I don't know. I know nothing about litecig. Went to their site and they look legit to me. I see they selll the V2 version. I think that just means they are short wicks. I have the V2.5 and I think that just means they are long wicks. I got one of my Mini Nova's from GotVapes and another one from Carolina Vapes. Replacement heads too. So who the frick knows? You might want to dig into the V2 vs V2.5 version differences a little if you have any motivation left. Maybe ask around in the PV forum (put out a new thread) and see what kind of feedback you get. Mention where you got it.
How many regular VN's do you have and how many Mini VN's do you have? And do they all screw up the same way? Did you get them all from the same place?
