If anyone in the gov't is capable of "reasonable", I haven't seen it yet. Most of us probably WOULD support *reasonable* regulation... but you give those washington fools a millimeter and they'll take 1000 miles, while telling you it's "for your own good."

Hey, there are some pretty good examples of reasonable regulations! The food and drug administration Comes to mind. I'll admit I don't have high hopes for good regulations, I can still dream ;)

UL listing and safety requirements/regulations guards our lives every time we use an electrical appliance. Imagine if hair dryers were not required to be ul listed. Portable heaters? Microwaves and on and on.
If they had been required for the istick 50 we would not be having this thread right now.

yes Iphones burn and such, they are not required to have ul listing either.

I keep hearing that the industry needs to be "self regulating". I like to think that we as a community help some, but we really can't do enough.

Industry only self regulates profit aspects. Especially Chinese industry. Remember the antifreeze in petfood and the poison Heparin that killed several? At least in China they executed the offenders over here they get a bonus.
Corporations being treated like people is a terrible thing sometimes. It's hard to make a corporation go to jail

Ohh they could put it in jail by shutting it down for a year or whatever sentence is applicable for the crime. But they won't. Licenses and such can be suspended or revoked.

Or the corporation just disbanded and a new one started. If corporations are people... is that assassination or impersonation?

FDA (IMO) are the 3 most dangerous letters ever bestowed upon USA.

Underwriters laboratory listing only means a product meets their specifications. Doesn't make a product safe or not safe. When I was a child, UL listing only meant there was the (only at the time) UL knot in the cord. This knot was supposed to prevent tugging on the connection point.

The first time I was electrocuted was from a UL listed lamp.

It had the knot... but the hole the cord fed through was too large to allow the knot to be useful. Lamp fell off the table. 6 yr old me decided to plug it back in before I got in trouble. 110Vac blackened 3 fingers temporarily.

Some of my best electronics aren't UL listed. Including a high powered lamp I trust and kept over my fish tanks for several years.

It seems opposite to me, you guys seem butthurt that people are satisfied with their istick even though there have been known issues. People are going to continue to buy and use them. People will still recommend them. I'm not saying the issue doesn't exist, but if I hadn't read this thread I would've had no idea these issues existed lol. Did anyone die? Or did their house set on fire? Or are you just overreacting?
I have seen a picture of some carpet burned and a couch destroyed. I have also read a post of another couch being destroyed.
My next thing to say is in my best annoyed California persons voice really ? You just said that?
Back to texaican voice. I wish it was the best most reliable preforming mod on the market. I have no reason to wish eleaf or any of its users grief.
My hopes are not a single person has to get hurt or not even the slightest property damage has to happen before all of the potentiality defective mods and put out of service. Weve already had enough close calls as it is. The Acronym for yet is your eligible to. Should your house burn down or your hand get severely burned and you have to miss lots of work and get behind in your bills happen so others wont have to?
I truly hope not!

I think possibly you must of been caught up in the heat of the thread to make such a statement. I know I have done that sort of thing many time over.
I hear ya. I guess let's all just hope no serious issues arise from this, or any other vape gear for that matter. That's all we can really do. Any fire or injury with any vape device is not good for us vapors, that's for sure!

How about lets do more than hope and not encourage people not to buy them when you see them at a shop question the mangier ask if its the new or old model. Wright a quick contact to eleaf stating how disappointed in their lack of initiative to remove any defective products from the market you are.

Yes

When mistreated.

Which lipos Are more picky.

But, as with the mvp line, their necessaries are very, very easy to meet.

I may have misunderstood and forgive me if I did but I never mistreated my Istick. My never flamed though because I got the atty off quickly. It has ruined a couple coils before I quit using it

I don't know how anyone can recommend a 50 watt mod to someone just starting out anyway. The Istick 20w or 30w, Heatvape Defender, I'd recommend all day....for a while. The upcoming evic-lt, using ni-200 and titanium coils is what would probably make my recommendation list. 5000 mah!! That's several days between charges. It does put out up to 60 watts but in temp mode, it is a safe 60 watts.

well mine is fine then , I RECCOMEND ISTICK TO ALL THE NEWBIES AND PROS , BEST PRODUCT EVER . For those who had their stick explode , should get a partial/full refund or an exchange but they should have to prove it .
In this situation people shouldn't have to prove anything more because all the proof is already out there. The company should do the right thing and issue a recall. They know the older ones are bad so keeping them in the market is wrong. Then differentiate between the new supposed to be fixed and the old batch. That's the only way to protect the consumer
