I think we need to STOP recommending a Istick 50

uhhh....because it was a defect that has been resolved and is no longer a problem with current units

I'll believe it when we stop hearing about them ghost firing ... like I said earlier, these will be yesterday's must have cheap chinese box mod very soon ... in a couple of years, it's likely all of these 50w iSticks will have died.

the next great $30 cheap chinese box mod is about to become the latest rage.

that is the Vaping scene. Today's must have sub ohm tank will be obsolete in 4 months too.

"Smart" Phones are the same way. People spend large bucks on them trying to stay on the bleeding edge and have the coolest device.

point being..... almost no company has 100% solid rep. even one of (if not the most) respected company in the biz 'evolv' has had recall issues and duds, and things that don't work properly.

if every time a company has put out a product with a defect we shunned them......then we would have no place to buy from.
And in every single case evolv has fessed up ,issued a recall or replacement and fully honored the warrantywarranty no questions asked. No denials.

QUOTE="Margate69, post: 15801070, member: 153093"]Eleaf went through the trouble of testing EVER SINGLE 50W in their ENTIRE inventory. That is a substantial amount of care. They addressed the problem. It is fixed. If your B&M didn't replace your defective product, that problem lies with THEM, no the manufacturer.

I certainly hadn't heard that and could I ask where You heard it from?

What you've typed, to me, is insufficient data. Even withstanding the "road flare" incident there was IMO a high frequency of other niggling issues with the 50.
What is the result of the inventory inspection? Are we to assume Every unit passed? Were any changes made?
Assuming what you say is gospel and oh say 99% of all the units tested to spec then I'm not real concerned about the other 1%.

But I haven't heard that yet either.

If you had read through the thread instead of jumping in, you would have seen that I linked Eleaf's response

Again my issue has nothing to do with charging. I would be happy if they issued a recall. The way it is currently consumers are at risk still. Without a recall! bad stock remains on shelves to be sold to some unsuspecting customers. If they care I would think a total recall is first,. Next is having a way to differentiate between the old and" new batch". Then and only then will I recommend them

I agree with the guy that said until they release a v2 or something that identifies that the device you are buying has been improved upon, you should not be so confident that they fixed the issue. Saying that x seller has a new batch doesn't tell me much of anything.

As with anything being an informed consumer is paramount. How many reviews have you read on Amazon for example, where the reviewer has not even received the product, yet writes a glowing review? Or a fake review? Or a negative review because they took too long to ship it? Another reason to take someone's opinion with a grain of salt.

I have one and prefer it over my mvp 3. I'm gonna buy another one. Can't beat the price and performance. Great product with lots of issues that I wasn't even aware of. 95% of new vapers will buy one because they probably don't lurk of forums and hear about these issues. It sucks but problems arise with all electronics.
batteries venting and fire buttons sticking is not good performance buy any standards. I agree with Jason
When we recommend something we should take in to account over all performance and reliability as a whole.
Oversight happen I do not think Eleaf meant to release potentially defective products on the market but what I dont see is them breaking their neck to make sure not one mods of those mods end up in consumers hands. So for me I would not recommend a eleaf stick. Thanks for Posting Jason.

I've got one. Had it for a month or so now. Have not had any issues with auto fire or with charging.

That being said, I'm not recommending them & really wonder if I should be using the thing at all. I even have a smpl clone on the way because I believe that a mech mod is a safer device than the IS 50w.

For these units to quit working is one thing .... for them to flame up with lipo batteries is all together something else entirely.

I'm still using it ... but I often find myself asking why I'm still using it.

It isn't a matter of hating, just a matter of warning people. And the failure modes are NOT benign, these can pose a real danger of fire and/or injury.

Yep -- the iTaste vv3s have an annoying issue where the battery post gets pushed down too far by some attys, and has to be popped back up with a little screwdriver -- but they don't autofire or catch on fire! Sigelei Zmax's have problematic buttons in a lot of mods... but they don't autofire or catch on fire! Unintended fire is NEVER a good thing, and is FAR more than annoying.

I don't "hate on" Eleaf; I just recommend 30w's, because they're great, and the 50w's can't be relied on, neither to work as intended, nor to NOT catch fire!

Someone said you should take the atty off when charging and that is solid advice. But I shouldn't have to unscrew it between puffs. I should be able to sit it down while I make myself a sandwich without worrying but I can't. That's a problem. And you can't compare this with a different company that issued a recall. A big part of my disappointment is because they have not issued a recall. There's a lot of old units being sold currently still. They were a hot item and shops ordered a lot of stock. Those shops will most likely continue selling them until a recall. I don't see why people get .... hurt over this. It's a serious problem

It seems opposite to me, you guys seem butthurt that people are satisfied with their istick even though there have been known issues. People are going to continue to buy and use them. People will still recommend them. I'm not saying the issue doesn't exist, but if I hadn't read this thread I would've had no idea these issues existed lol. Did anyone die? Or did their house set on fire? Or are you just overreacting?

just a hypothetical situation ... they just announced millions of cars have air bags that could explode and injure.

Your daughter/son/mother/father is looking to buy a used car ... do you recommend one with the potential air bag issues?

All these cars are not going to have the air bag explode in your face ... do you take the chance for your daughter's first car?

If you answer yes ... maybe a 50w iStick makes a nice gift for Gramma to quit smoking with

This airbag recall didn't start with a few random defective airbags and some sporadic injuries ... it took people dying to gain attention.

maybe that is what some are waiting for, before they stop recommending them.
