If we're pushed underground by the FDA, what then?

I read the article in the journal this afternoon and it's got me pondering some 'what ifs?'. What if they do manage to get an outright ban on PV's/E-cigs next month? It's a scary thought, especially considering I've completely given up the analogs for the vape alternative.

Would all of these suppliers websites dissappear overnight? Would we be ready for such an action? Would we resort to making our own brew? Is the underground network of vapers already poised for such drastic measures? All of these questions.

I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but I have lived long enough to know that the Gov't. loves to slap a sin tax on anything us humans really enjoy doing. It wouldn't surprise me to see some sort of "appeasement play" instead of an outright ban.

The FDA gets to regulate any materials that contain nicotine, and also initiate some sort of regulatory fees along with that service (read, sin tax).

We are all mesmerized like deer in the headlights because we're spared our precious vapor, meanwhile the FDA with it's big shotgun is poised outside our peripheral to tax our e-juice right through the roof.

Phillip Morris is front and center in the audience, cackling like a little school girl.

I know some of this may seem far fetched, and maybe (probably) it is. I guess only time will tell.

It's a scary thought in the least. If the taxes go through the roof with these enough to make them too expensive and I'm afraid even more than some cigs, idk what I will do. I guess smoke 0mg juice and hope to god I can kick the nic cravings fast. I don't want to give up the habit of vaping. As my husband said today, he didn't think he would like vaping as much as smoking but he really does enjoy it more. So much more he doesn't want to go back to analogs ever. And I'm right there with him. If I had the funds I'd stock up on nic juice like it was WW3. That or move to the EU LOL

I don't think there will be an outright ban on it...at least I hope not.

Thinking realisticly though, they may fall under the tobacco products group and be regulated accordingly (maybe even taxed as such).

Even if the price of e-cigs was to match the price of analogs (because of taxes and such), I would stay with the e-cigs. I was already paying the price I was paying for analogs and was willing to do so...I would be just as willing to do so with e-cigs. I am not making the switch (still waiting for mine to get here) because it's cheaper, I'm making the switch for my family and I's health. Saving money is just an added benifit. Now, if the price of e-cigs got to be much more than smoking analogs, then I'm sure many vapors would cross back over to the dark side...or at least there would not be near as many new vapors seeing the light.

I sure hope they don't ban them either. Would be a travesty to all of us who finally kicked a terrible habit. More and more of my friends, family and co-workers are trying e-cigs, I don't want them to give up on it because of the FDA's shenanigans!
As for me, if we have to go underground, I'll do it in a heart beat! I am NOT going back to analogs!!

Don't say this out loud, but I wouldn't mind much paying taxes on nic juice. Shhhh! But, FDA can't even keep BAD EGGS from happening, so not too worried about it.
BUT, if they're banned, a lot of distributors are going to be hurting, and so will their customers.
We have to do all we can to stop such a thing.
It wouldn't be fair for 400,000 people to die every year because they can't quit smoking with Chantix or some dumb thing. That's the biggest insult to humanity there is.

This is terrible because vaping is the only thing that has ever even come close to allowing me to quit smoking analogs. I beleive it is big tobacco allong with the FDA that are behind this. big tobacco stands to lose money and the FDA cant stand not being able to have there grubby little hands in everything. vaping is just on the verge of breaking out into mainstream, Rush limbaugh talked about it again today. This is huge for the industry. I guess all we can do is hold on to our e-nics and see what happens. I will definately start stocking up on supplies.

If they outlaw vaping, i will be an outlaw, it's that simple. Just as with firearms, I think it will be an ongoing fight, but, I doubt they will ban them. tax, even force them into specific store only as is done with liquor in some locations but not ban.

I live where firearms will likely never be banned, but it is a valid comparison.

No one is taking either one away from me unless i decide i don't want them anymore.

With this country being in such financial dire straits they'll slap a tax on it to get every penny they can. I predict the same will happen with a certain green substance within the next decade.

More and more people are "waking up" on a daily basis and even the dimmest among us can cut through the bs. I'm sensing a growing trend towards libertarianism in America. People are sick & tired and just want to be left the bleep alone.

Accidentally found an old political discussion...

Ben Franklin said it is our right, nay, it is our DUTY to stop the government when they try to overstep their boundaries. Remember when they taught us about checks and balances in school? Well, our governments checking account is wayyyy overdrawn.

All of what you speak about was already tried and trued in 1768! Which resulted in our Independence in 1776! :D Our government or ANY government is ONLY as dictatorial as "We The People" allow it to be! So it IS up to Us, "We The People" to decide WHAT "WE" WANT! NOT WHAT they think is best for us!
