I'm a newbie too but here is what I learned even with plenty of niccotine in the juice: those people who like to say that they simply up and quit smoking the day they started vaping or by some strange witchcraft lost the taste for cigarettes immediately are in the same group that woke up one morning and quit cigarettes cold turkey. They're not telling the whole story, hell, they probably don't even know the whole story.

vaping has it's uses. You will crave a smoke. You'll probably enjoy smoking when you do it and you already know cigarettes taste gross, smell gross and give you headaches. You've known for years it is going to kill you and you did it anyway. vaping isn't a magic bullet.

Buy lots of SMALL bottles of juice to try from many different vendors. Reorder the ones you like in big bottles

Once you start always have back ups and back ups for your back ups

If you find some vape gear that interests you watch and read reviews before you buy. You tube and ECF are your best friends for this

Go to TasteYourJuice.com and learn all you can from P. Busardo. He explains things clearly and slowly for new vapers

If you have any problems along the way (and you will) don't be afraid to ask questions here. We love to help each other out

I disagree. Speak for yourself.

I quit smoking cold turkey the day I started vaping. Sure, it wasn't as easy as it sounds, but it can be done. It comes down to how ambitious you are and the way you approach it. People wanna lose weight, but they don't wanna change their eating habits or get off the couch either. It's lazyness for the most part.

The biggest thing for starters, IMO, is they have to be educated on vaping. You can't just give someone a mech mod with 2 batteries and a bottle of juice and expect them to quit.

It comes down to a persons mindset, more than anything else.

2 cents.

Keep your rig CLEAN. Get into a routine of cleaning it daily. Your hands touch many things during the day, some quite sanitary some ... well, think about it. :) Same goes for your drip tip. Hopefully you kiss those you love during the day, including a child or two, you've eaten, and well again, think about all your lips may touch. :) A simple wipe down of your rig with a sanitary wipe or a paper towel dampened with alcohol or a mild bleach solution can save you from a lot of germs you'd prefer to live without.

You are right. This forum is for people who adore vaping, So, no questions, it is greatly biased.
But – and it's a great but – VAPING DOES HELP QUIT SMOKING.

I quit smoking the day I got a decent e-cig. The gas station cig-alike didn't do it for sure. That having said when I started I didn't know I needed to hydrate more, and got the absolute worst laringitis I've ever experienced for about 3 weeks. I do remember after those three weeks having a craving for my good ol' Marlboro red, and after 2 puffs it tasted so gross I wanted to throw up. At that point I said to myself, "Well, I guess I'm done with those." And I have been for 3.5 years. :D

EDIT: Actually that's another great tip for the noobs. PG is hygroscopic. Hydrate a lot more often then you are probably used to at least for the first few weeks until your body adjusts.

Don't think that you can learn everything from youtube, and not to try to copy anyone without knowing what you're doing and how ohms and batteries work, since there are tons of idiots on YouTube, especially the ones doing .09 ohm coils and under tutorials and the one's showing battery stacking with 18350s and claim they are being safe because their batteries are 30 amps, and they know what they're doing.

Do your homework, know your own personality and what will ultimately make you happy, then make your vape purchases because vaping can be more expensive than tobacco cigarettes, as it could take months of buying tobacco cigarette cartons to pay off equipment for vaping so you might as well get what you'll be ultimately happy with at the very start.

If your buddies all use Provari's and you know that you won't be happy until you have your own Provari, then save up if you need to and buy that Provari from the start instead of wasting money working your way up to it. Personally, I would rather that I'd smoked tobacco cigarettes a little longer and then bought the ultimate setup that I wanted rather than the route that I went where I bought things like many ego twist batteries and tanks until I finally got to something that I actually like (the MVP2 and Nautilus tanks) it would have saved me a few hundred dollars.

Only one other thing... Try to be careful with your vaping equipment, some stuff does actually break when it falls out of your shirt pocket and hits the hard concrete floor. My wife dropped one of her ego twist batteries and wouldn't you know it... It had to land right on the button and jam it in and now it's unusable, just another $30.00 down the drain, I say another as I lost one of my first ego twist's getting out of the car one day, must have fallen out the door and before I could get back to the car to see if it was laying on the ground, somebody must have found it and snatched it up. Really bummed me out as it was my first so it was sort of special to me.

You may be in luck, take that ego to a good, local B&M or two and see if they have anyone on staff who can work on it. I know at the one I work at, we have a guy on staff who can work wonders on those ego batteries, switches especially! Then it could go back into rotation, or used as a backup [emoji4]

Agree...except that in my case I bought a starter kit and juice and smoked my last cig before bed one night...woke up and started vaping....never smoked another cig and never wanted one...I smoked 2 packs a day of reds for 33 yrs and quit just like that....the guy you replied to apparently thinks that his personal experience qualifies him to speak to other people's experiences, but like you said, he should just speak for himself...for some it's hard to quit even with the aid of e-cigs, but for others, it really is just that easy...

It's already been mentioned but when transitioning from smokes to e-cigs there are no timeline rules. Do it at your own pace and don't beat yourself up if you smoke. Sometimes it's ebb and flow until you put the smokes down for good. The key is to hang in there and let it happen.

I would add....claim every time you vape instead of smoke as a "victory" because it is.
The first time I had a pack of smokes last more than a day was amazing. I thought: "If I never go past this point, I'm better off than I was yesterday"

When I had that same pack a week later---WITH SMOKES STILL IN IT--I knew I had won.

There are no ecigs that will truly taste like your cigarette.

You can find some that are close or will work.

(In the end you prolly wont want that anyway because a cigarette hardly even tastes like natural tobacco after what's been done to it to keep mold, insects, acceptable levels of critter excrement & urine to human consummable levels, colored, and "juiced".)

Wait til you experience what tobacco REALLY tastes like...and non-tobacco flavors as well.

Don't discard juice that you initially do not like.

You will be amazed at how much your tastes will change during your first few weeks/months of no tobacco.
Also, the juice itself will change as it steeps. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much!
After you are at this for awhile, the mad scientist or gourmet chef inside you will have fun mixing those juices together and maybe inventing something new and amazing!

And if not, then play those juices forward to someone else who may just love what you do not! Win/win!:)

THIS^^^^^!!!
I'd add if you get home and the juice doesn't taste like it did in the store. Shelve it and try again later.
You may then realize why you bought it in the first place.

Just get the best at first, and when going for ejuice just realize that the smell is the same as the taste yummy as jesus. Just imagine you vaping on it and how it tastes, it will taste the same. Well for my first build im going for a dna 30 by cloupor - Vtc5 - Plume veil - 30 gauge kanthal - 100$ on ejuice (510 ml) - Battery case x4 - i4 nitecore charger - Drip tip from cherry vapes - and organic cotton. This might be an ideal build for anyone who know what their doing.

It doesn't stop being hygroscopic after a few weeks; people who vape are going to need a LOT of hydration for as long as they vape. Everytime you exhale vapor, there went a bit of your body's water, out into the air.
