Hey cat. First, go rest yourself. As for your question, it's a Yes and No. The fillerless Nitros, but they only come in XL so they need to be cut down. J5 did one for me, and it's working marvelously well. DJ, from the Billet Box thread, did a couple too. The latest one is working for him, so he's doing a couple for Kat to try.

A couple of his failed too though, so we're trying to figure what's the best repeatable approach to make them work consistently. There will be more to share as the experiment continues.

But J5 did hit his pretty much perfectly the first time out (and thank you, SIR!), which is an EXCELLENT sign.

Gorgeous bowls, Oz! Lots of love and work going into them :)

Dp, our friend won't hear a word about it from me.

Katie is Katie...yall know how she is by now. The storm started before I even got up this morning. She wanted to watch her local Catholic church channel but she had pushed the wrong buttons on her remote and gotten the cable whacked out. Of course it was my fault because I was still sleeping and couldn't fix it right away. The day went downhill from there

Cable fixed, a window fixed, yard mowed, I might be done for the day!

Ms Cat, do get some rest!! TGIF :)

Just out of curiosity, which channel DID she land on? ;-)

No, the remote wouldn't work for her. She gets the tv set over to VCR or DVD and doesn't know how to reset it. She's 80...she's forgotten more than I'll ever know  I'm still trying to figure out how I got custody of the mother in law after the divorce!

Oh J5 she usually lands on Fox news, a huge pet peeve of mine!

You don't like Fox News Bo? Huh. I watch them all because they all tend to put their political slant on the news and I want a complete picture but Fox has the most money.

Oz I can turn something up to about 6" diameter and about 3 ft. in length. Anything larger and I hit the framework the Chuck slides on. Haven't done anything on it this yr. Got to many other things going on. It's just a small lathe. I did my Infinity Pro on it though.

That's some beautiful maple. Was that sold as fiddleback or did you just get lucky?

Just keep the lathe away from your bowels & I'll sleep a bit easier. ;)

My big girl is a 14x42 over the bed, but she has a sliding & rotating headstock. I'd guess I could turn a piece about 6' in diameter with her, but I'd probably have to throw on some sandbags. She's getting old though. I've rebuilt her several time & really could use another lathe in the shop, but unfortunately today's disposable society doesn't put a lot of value on the artisans & craftsmen still trying to eek out an honest living.

(Night, Fran!)

Beautiful stuff, Oz. Seriously good work.

And we will not have cable news arguments here in this place of good stuff. Me? I hate them ALL. Frenzy feeders if you ask me. We're already too divided and if we don't correct that soon, I fear for the future of this once great nation.

I don't want them outlawed, but I'd love for people to just tune out. That would make as a very happy man.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Who's got wood? :p

You asked, I answered! But no argument from me on not arguing ;)

Wood? J5's got a mighty fine IPro, but I think Oz wins in the big wood capabilities. That sounds like a monster lathe!

Sleep well Fran!

This lathe I got is just a little thing. It serves it's purpose If I need to turn something but it usually stands in the corner out of the way. A person could never make any money with it. It's just a handy man kind of thing. Got an excellent chuck and speed control for the size though.
As for the maple my SIL grandfather was an artisan and has wood from all over the world. When he passed away his grandmother ask if I would like some so he brought me a few pieces. I couldn't pronounce (or remember) the names of some of it but I have a big old burl from a tree sitting about 6 ft. from me because I didn't want moisture or temperature changes going through it. Someday I'm going to have it cut and numbered because I don't have a band saw.

I don't watch TV unless theres football so as for the news I only turn it on if something happens. I call it Fox Commercials with some news. They have more commercials than they do news. That's why I don't watch much TV because I hate, detest, abhor, commercials.

Did you have anything to do with this Kat ?!?!?!?

Simon Cowell to bring Betty Boop to the big screen.

Cowell said: 'Betty is an icon, and one of the biggest stars in the world - I'm thrilled to be working with her. Betty, I've worked with some serious divas but I think you could be the biggest of them all!'

You and your burl sound like you need a vacation. I hear Montana's nice this time of year. ;) I may happen to know where you can find a nice sized band saw too. :D

I went pro a couple years ago. I've been working a side job via a contract to help with the slow times, but let's just say it's time to move on from that. I'm starting a 'real' job next month, so the wood shop is taking a back seat for a while. I'll still be taking on commissions, but I can be a little more picky with what I take.
