Says if the advanced P-Editor is installed it will add an icon.

The icon it installs will look like this on your desktop. You have to download the zip file, unzip it to a folder of your choosing, and then run the exe file to install it. They should have created a self installing ZIP file that asks you where you want to install it, creates the directory, and then installs it and puts an icon on the desktop automatically.

I installed from the included cd which installed v5.0 and an update program. Once installed, I let the program update to v5.1 and avoided messing with zip files. Loaded my the label I created in the "easy" editor and had to make some minor adjustments when it was not aligned quite right then. Will just stay with the full editor which looks like it opens up a whole lot of options.

I like the editor. It displays a WYSIWYG example of what the label looks like when you print. It only took me a few minutes to find and use the features I wanted in my labels. It also identifies the label stock that's loaded if you change label types mid-stream.

One more about the labeler and I will give it a rest. It is fun playing around with it and have a lot to learn yet. I mixed up 3 flavors today in different size bottles. I imported a color picture to see how it looked. Ended up not being too bad, but will be looking for something better. Here is what I ended up with:

Last night I updated all the software I initially installed to the latest version and also updated the firmware on the printer. At this point it's all at the latest version. I've labeled a couple of bottles and created some labels for stuff around the house, but I'm waiting for my next DIY session to use it across the board for the next batch of juice

Looks like OlderNDirt has mastered the Brother QL-700! Those labels are looking good, Bro! Have you used up the labels that came in the box? I have a 400 label roll in my cart at Amazon, but I'm still working on the 100 label roll that came with it.

I've only used the 2.4" continuous tape. I also tested that for some file folder type size and it worked just fine. I'm gonna have to order some more, going to look at the cheaper after market stuff with re-usable roller. I'm finding that the continuous tape should work for most everything I will be making labels for.

I updated everything, so should be good to go. Been spending most my time playing with labels for my juice, but am already looking at things in the house to see if it should be labeled. I made one for my wife, but she refused me putting it on her forehead. :w00t:

If a few more buy one of these, maybe a separate thread for using it and showing all our results. Peeking through some of the options, I'm sure there are a bunch of possibilities I may never find on my own.

It may be a long time before I can afford this. But, I really, really want one!

$59.95 with enough labels in the box to last a while for DIY labeling is really a good deal for a label printer that plugs into your PC or Laptop USB port. The 400 address label roll is about $6 in aftermarket tape that reviewers say is indistinguishable from Brother tape.

The little Brother labeler I was using cost me about $25 and doesn't hold a candle to the new one. If I had spent the money at the outset for the QL-700 I'd be $25 ahead! Both print nice labels, but I got tired of the tiny keyboard on the smaller one. I used aftermarket labels with the little handheld Brother printer and they were smudge proof and waterproof, even in the ultrasonic cleaner with hot water.

I was wondering about waterproof as I was researching that, so comforting to know. Good reviews for the aftermarket, but how many reviewers checked waterproofing?

You talked me into it. Although it may be a month or so before I have the money. It's still pretty cheap and really useful.

I wish I had a better labeling way, s there's always sticky left and I have to do a quick Goo Gone wipe down before the bottle is "good as new".
I started using blue painters tape for my diy labels. I was tired of using goo gone.

Now that's a good idea! If there wasn't a blizzard outside I'd be heading off to Lowe's. I guess it'll wait until tomorrow.:)

Excellent tip as I'm sick of goo gone as well.
