Maybe I haven't been off the cigs long enough (just passed 4 months), but smelling other people smoking still kind of makes me want one. Not enough to actually go and HAVE one, but I find myself vaping a little harder and hitting one of my tobacco flavors for awhile, which I keep around for just such occasions.

Every so often I try one just to reinforce where I've been. They never seem to taste any better. I can't magine why I smoked them so long. I think the hardest thing for me is why I thought I needed them. Guess it has made many millionaires but I'd bet my bottom dollar there is something there that is hidden whether it be chemical or financial.

Let me clarify, I was on the phone with a buddy. I wouldn't insult him or anyone. Don't jump the shark with reactions. With any luck, he'll be meeting me this week at eCig Cafe here in Kenosha for a spinner and his own setup

Haven't heard that one in a while.
I'd bet 9 out of 10 people reading this thread would have no idea what that means (without the aid of Google).

I am not sure why but it seems that cigarette smoke smells stronger and worse to ex-smokers than it does to those that never smoked at all. I personally didn't start smoking until I was 24. Prior to that I had friends that smoked, and even dated some girls that smoked. It smelled bad but not completely obnoxiously bad, like it does now that I am a former smoker. Talking to others that have quit I have heard similar stories. Maybe it is just because we are more "in tune" with the smell and our nose is warning us to stay away. Kind of like if you ever "over did it" with a particular type of alcohol you can find yourself nauseated by just the smell of that particular alcoholic beverage for a long long time.

I so agree. The smell really gets to me now just like Southern Comfort gets to me due to an unfortunate experience in college. ;) I never say anything, but I can get downright nauseous being around a heavy smoker, even if they're not smoking. God, I'm so glad I quit those things!

I was vaping at a football game recently (I wasn't there voluntarily; I hate football) and a small group of smokers started puffing away near me. The smoke bothered me so much that I had to move away - and I'm only in my fourth month of not smoking. However, I promised myself many years ago that if I quit, I would never become one of those intolerant, judgmental non-smokers, so there'll be no snide remarks or fake coughing from me. I'll just move away.

I think that feeling will ease up in a short while. I think it is still there for now because it was actually a part of your daily life for so long. Personally, I only had a slight urge about a week after I started vaping and I think it was just out of curiosity. I asked a friend for a hit of her cigarette and all I took was one hit and I handed it right back and thought...I can't believe how absolutely horrifying the taste was, and I loved smoking (for 37 years).

Gotta love negative reinforcement :)

Oooo I know what it means. The question is has the OP used it correctly or might he be mixing his metaphors a bit :)

Long live the Fonz!

I always liked the smell of a cigarette and pipes. I still have an open pack of analogs next to my vaping gear and another in my truck. Read that worked as a mental thing when I first started vaping and perhaps it helped, I think it did from the beginning.
It really does not bother me being around smokers at all. I wear men's cologne, they wear old ciggy smoke, it's their choice.

Yes, a couple of guys at my club smoke these little filtered cigars. Even when I smoked, I couldn't handle smelling cigars. So I do the same thing...I have to move over a couple seats. Believe it or not, cigarettes actually smell like cigars to me now but I also promised myself that I wouldn't be critical to anyone. Just maybe call them an idiot or something, but nothing major- No, just kidding!!:vapor:

I agree the smell of a cigarette is starting to become unpleasant to me as well.
But I refuse to be a jerk about. I do however tease my fellow coworker
whom I used to go on smoke breaks with she just rolls her eyes.
But even though the smell is becoming unpleasant i refuse to be a jerk, also
remember there are those that villify what we do.

Good analogy. Cigarette smoke never has, and still doesn't bother me. The smell of vodka, however, is enough to make me damn near puke my guts up. Ironically, that comes from my young teenage years, and I'm almost 30 now (still is horrid to me).

This seems to be common phenomenon. I absolutely can not tolerate even one whiff of Seagram's 7 or rum. See, we did learn something in college.
