I had three cartons in hand, and five more cartons in shipping when I unexpectedly quit smoking ... the day my first PV was delivered. I sold a few cheap, gave one away ... and finally, after several months had passed, I threw the remainders away. I'm certain they were quite stale by then.

8.5 months in. I got over the need for the blanky security fairly quickly. But, I do understand what you mean. It was strange at first just to leave the house without a pack and a lighter.

Nope, you're not alone. I didn't throw out my rolling tobacco until I'd been vaping full-time for a month and a half. It stayed in my purse, going with me everywhere. Just like you said, it was a comfort thing. But eventually... I got to a point where I could let it go.

You and cigarettes have been attached at the hip for years. It'll take time to get over that.

Actually, I wrote a blog post about the day I threw out my tobacco.

One month? I have a suggestion that will convince you to throw them out. It's not conventional advice... but just try one. I'd just about bet you a dollar you won't even want to finish it (or even take more than maybe three drags). At least, that's what I did after only a week, and that convinced me I no longer needed or wanted cigs around. It's no longer an acceptable alternative to me.

I don't keep them because I want one, Im just afraid to leave them and be without them. I am 36 yrs old, and I started in sixth grade, (10-11yrs old??). That's along time to carry my "blanky" around, and then one day, just throw it away?. Hard to explain, I just don't want to be without them right now. I am for sure done with them though. I like ego way better, the flavors, the ease of use, and I can sneak a drag anywhere.

I got rid of all my 'baccy after about a week. Thing is, I'm NUTS about having multiple batteries, 20+ml of juice, backup kits... lol.

I've got my egos, plus 2 fully charged 510 batts, plus a 5v box mod (with at least 2 fully charged sets of batteries) with me at all times. Passthrough, attys, carts, juice & a boxmod in the glovebox as "emergency rations". More stuff all over the house. Enough backstocked juice "fixins" to last me a year.

Plus, I always know I can just walk down to the 24-hour Walgreens if it ever comes to that... but now I know it won't :)

I still have a few cigs left out of the last carton I bought 3 weeks ago. At the time I bought my first e-cig (Njoy), I had three packs left. I really have no desire to smoke them, but I do when I'm hanging out with friends, drinking. Now, they taste pretty nasty to me. Those were Senecas but a Marlboro Red will always have a special place in my heart -- not that I'm going to buy them! They're over $10 a pack now! But if it's offered, I'll take it. I didn't start vaping to quit smoking, I did it as an alternative to smoking because it's so damn expensive now. I like to smoke.

But my security blanket is my Zippo. I've carried that thing since I was 13 years old (21 years ago) and it's like a part of me. We've been through a lot together.

My first PV got here a day earlier than expected. I was smoking a cig. when the mail came with it...I was just about to walk out the door to buy some because I only had 1 left. I still have that one sitting right next to me. I can't believe I'm not even tempted! Not sure when I'll throw it out, really not even sure why I haven't yet...

When i smoked i usually smoked bargain brands so when i ordered my first kit i bought 2 packs of premium cigs pretty much to lament my last days of smoking while i waited for my kit to arrive. The day it came i still had like 15 cigs left. I had one a day untill they were done...not because i needed them...just because they were there and I paid an extra 3 bucks a pack for those fu@#ers.

We had analogs in the house for about 3 days after we stated vaping. I stoped smoking the day I started to vape but Julie did both for 3 days until the smokes ran out. I think the poster before had a good idea. Take a couple of drags of one of those stale camels you will then have no probs binning them.

:toast:

I'm with on that one.

My Zippo is like that cherished necklace or ring you're never without.

I'm with you guys on that one as well. I still carry my Zippo with me, you just never know when you will need it.

Open the pack and throw out 1 per day until they're all gone.

Personally I let myself run out of cigs before I took up vaping full time. When my cigs ran out it was vaping or nothing. I put all my paraphenalia away and didn't even leave a cigarette .... around. I just told myself each morning when I woke up and reached for my pv "this is what I do now". There were times that I'd have stepped over my mother for a cig but since I found equipment and juice that work for me, I forgot why I ever even enjoyed cigs. Now the concept of smoking a cigarette seems utterly foreign to me.
