Subject: UPS/ FED EX NO JOKE!

This one is true!!
The newest virus circulating is the UPS/Fed Ex Delivery Failure. You will
receive an email from UPS/Fed Ex Service along with a packet number.. It
will say that they were unable to deliver a package sent to you on
such-and-such a date. It then asks you to print out the invoice copy
attached. DON'T TRY TO PRINT THIS. IT LAUNCHES THE VIRUS! Pass this warning on to all your PC operators at work and home. This virus has caused Millions of dollars in damage in the past few days. Snopes confirms that it is real.

its f-cking real it hit me yesterday.. and of course me being me and doing what i do it f-cking worked brilliantly..

it also took two or three hours of pissing about to get rid of.. and some things got damaged during the process..

a very clever piece of code.. this one linked to something called antivirusexp pro...

basically something that does virus like thing to you PC.. tries to sell you itself to get rid of what its doing..

it creates a false user ini file.. plays tricks with your browser.. blocks links to places that might tell you what it is.. switches of your task manager so as you cant shut it down.. all in all a very well thought out but nasty peice of work..

nicely delivered as a USPS tracking message saying failed to deliver because the address is wrong.. see attached doc for details..

This is why I have and always will have a Mac.
for starters this is not a virus, it is a trojan. for finishers if you choose to believe your mac is impervious you are destined to end up infected.

Everybody should practice safe computing regardless of what OS you use. If you are not computer savvy enough to steer clear of malware on your own then get some software that will help out. Trojans depend on social engineering to install so be aware of the threat and check out files that you are not 100% sure about.

The days of Mac's security through obscurity are over. Macs now hold over 10% of the market share and malware authors are taking notice.

For starters, where did I say it's a Virus?
For finishers, Virus...Trojan...WTF difference does it make. It will still screw your PC.
Oh, and thank you for telling me there is such a thing as anti-virus software. I never heard of that.:p
I've been using Mac's and PC's since they were invented and have never had any kind of virus or trojan on a Mac.

Well that settles it then. YOU never had one so they must not exist.

I didn't get the VIRUS (that is actually a trojan) that this thread was started about so apparently it does not exist.

The three different trojans that all hit mac in the last year or so screwed up lots of macs. The do exist.

If you do not even know the difference between a trojan and a virus then you ARE one of the people that should be using anti-virus software to scan unknown files.

All the sarcasm in the world will not help you if a day comes that it does happen to you.

Once again, where did I say a Mac virus does not exist? Show me where I said that.

I know they exist, DUM. You came up with three, count them THREE trojans for the Mac. Now sit there for the next three or four days and list all the one's that can infect a PC. How many thousands are there. I'm sure you can tell me since you know everything else. The whole point of my original post saying I have and will always have a Mac is to suggest they are 100x safer as far as getting infected with anything be it a virus or a trojan. Are you going to deny that statement? If you are than your name really does fit you.
