Wow! It took long enough!
No bumper crop..all my tomatos bit the dust. Next Feb it all starts again! I have to trim back all my herbs and clean out the comtainers that herbs have already died in. ( some really don't last very long..some I can't kill!)

My boss' tomato's did the same thing. She has 6 of them now, I think it was the intense dry heat.

I just now found this thread. Lovely gardens complete with hummingbirds. Fudgy!!! Congrats on your tom!!

I live in the sticks, and are trying to get a self sufficient garden going. It takes years with our clay soil. We've dug trenches, troughs, to act as clay pots and then have been filling with top soil and fertilizer from the horse pasture. This year we harvested sunflowers, watermelons, tomatoes and of course squash. The carrots are itty bitty prunes, and the onions, bell peppers, artichokes, etc need more love. The corn grew a few husks, but they too are small. Hopefully next year will be better. Even if they're not doing excellently, they still taste oh so fantastic. I love homegrown tomato sandwiches and could eat those all day. The watermelons grew to only the size of footballs, but man were they tasty!! The best ever. It's not until you taste REAL food without all the pesticides that you know what life should taste like.

Best of luck to everyone's gardens and I hope next year is bountiful and tasty.

Do you think it's going to stay cold? We were kind of chilly this morning. 54 doesn't sound like much to you guys , but to us..brrrr!

it'll warm up again here, but i don't want to move things in and out this year. 58 seems cold to me- and that's as warm as it got yesterday

I have 2 dead tomato plants, 2 dead pepper plants, and one jalapeno that somehow keeps surviving...it was so hot this summer that I couldn't keep them watered enough. Only ended up getting one banana pepper out of the lot.

that sounds like my luck with trying to grow veggies. (that or the dogs & squirrels eat them)

YAY fudgey- a new garden!
