Any concept of how vaping will be viewed in the decades to come is purely speculative. But, some of us are stocked up to the point that, if we choose, we can continue vaping decades into the future...regardless of regulations.
If you're still vaping in 20-years, in spite of regulations which would inhibit vaping...how do you picture that scene? Are you a criminal, a pariah, a fool, a freak?
Would young folk appreciate your antiquated mods? Or pity you? In the year 2040.
Realistically, it's likely nobody will know I'm a vaper, as stealth vaping in public places has always worked for me.

As for how the public perceives it, I expect it will be seen as an antiquated way for smokers to stop. They might even find it silly -

I'll be 80 years old and will post pictures in the "look what I found from the old days" thread.

    I'll be 80 in July.
So now I have to post in the "look what I found from the old days" thread?!?

And, I still wrap my own coils & mix my own juice!

Nicotine is recognized as a preventive for Alzheimer's.

Yeah... I read a Great Study on Nicotine's Role in Preventing Alzheimer's.

I'd post it, but I Can't Remember what folder I bookmarked it to? And I Can't seem to Recall who the Author was?

    That, and Parkinson's.

Apparently it inhibits COVID-19 as well, or the "cytokine storms" it invokes, or both. It was noticed by French doctors and is now being independently studied although the results haven't been analyzed and no determinations have been made.

Efficacy of Nicotine in Preventing COVID-19 Infection - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov
Does Nicotine Prevent Cytokine Storms in COVID-19? - PubMed

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere!

Like Cartman after hearing the beginning of "Come Sail Away", I'm doomed. Thanks, Unc(2). Thanks a lot. ;)

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. We are vapers*.

    * Yes - I'm likely going to have that engraved on my headstone. I figure I should get SOMETHING for that investment I (we) made, so many moons ago.

My guess is that in 20 years smoking will either be history or be a rare vice practiced in private. Prices will go through the roof like they have in Australia. Without smoking as a driver vaping will be rare also. A few cranky old survivors from these parts stretching out the last of their once huge stash of frozen nic. Hope I'm wrong.

Doubt I'll be around to see. After almost 50 years of smoking I don't expect to make it 90.

As long as mother nature produces leafy matter that can be dried, there'll be smoking :D
