It's working! It's vaping about the same but now I can have my 6 or 7 coils now and still use it on my bolt, which is what I wanted. I have the 18500 bolt and it's a little shorter and lighter than my yj. Of course the drunker is light also and the combo feels great in the hand. Looks good too. I'm pretty happy with this setup. :vapor:

OK, I am sold, after reading this whole thread. I have been looking at this thing on my favorite vendor's website since I first went there. I have been looking at the Phoenix V3 as well, but that is a dripper for tasting, not a tank like the Drunker. I will use the silica that comes with it until it needs replacing, but I am looking forward to trying bamboo or hemp as a wick material.

I know that this is a rather general wick material question, but have some of you far more experienced RBA users made wicks with 2 or 3 types of material twisted together? SS mesh not included, not interested.

I predict that you'll really like the drunker unless you only have an ego type battery to power it. The ceramic cup makes for a nice warm vape but it also means the legs from the coil are fairly long which adds to the ohms. Not a problem for a vv device at all and the ceramic does a great joy of containing the heat.

I'd also suggest giving cotton a try before bamboo or hemp. I use cheesecloth or cotton rounds (makeup pads) and both work great, but I think the favorite with several posters here is the peaches and cream cotton yarn. There's a lot of good info on cotton in the 'different cottons' thread.

Good luck and keep us posted. :vapor:

I have had a singe problem lately again, mostly because I think I have been making the coil and wick too thin. I came accross a thread talking about oval coils working better in some devices and remembered the origonal wick/coil in the drunker was large and oval. Will keep posted on how it turns out.

Have you considered using SS mesh around the cotton? I was thinking about giving this a try with my builds. My builds suffer from a similar fate as your description. Beyond that I tend to chain vape the Drunker more than other attys that I have.

I would think that would work well because it should help prevent the wick from choking at the slots. I'm looking forward to your report on it.

I'm really enjoying my wire welder. I had twisted my 32 kanthal and that worked well, but the nr legs work even better. :vapor:

Just got done cleaning every piece then back together. Used 1.25inches 33 awg kanthal with nickle legs for about 1.8ohm larger coil. Had to mount the coil on top a little higher because of the thin slots. Rolled two wicks of cotton rounds both through the coil like original setup. Letting it soak, will keep updates.

Can you tell me if the high wicks and coil cause the wicks to touch the top cap/cone? If so I believe you may have a flooding issue as has been my experience. The contact with the top cap allows excess wicking and floods the head. When this happens to me I end up with fluid all over my hands.

Well that setup was horrible, but I did learn something. The air flow in the drunker is what made it worse haveing the coil and wick higher up. After realizing that it's the air flow has given me some ideas on how to improve the next setup. Will show my next idea when put together.

You never know until you try. If I were a betting man, I'd have lost big on that one lol.

I am still on the original wick but it is time to rebuild with cotton /mi favoet is peaches and cream from waaly mart.

to get the wick through the holes I used a threaded sewing needle and tyed the wick tight to the end ,put the needle thtough the wickhole
and pull it through. next I will try is put a drop of glue to ends of a couple of strands work it with your fingers rolling it to a point.
should be easy to push through when hardened and then cut off the glue portion . have funn

A little piece of tinfoil or saran wrap should work as well and save getting glue on your fingers. Another little tip for when you rewick is to snip the wick on each side of the coil and remove it. Pulse the coil a couple of times then pull a short piece of wick in the coil and lap the ends of the original wick up against it on each side. For me, that seems to wick as well as a solid wick. ymmv and all that. Vape on. :vapor:

I'm still using my drunker tank on and off. I've been concentrating on the mesh RBAs lately. I switched from cotton back to silica as the cotton was just too easy to burn :( Not as "full" of a vape as my genesis's but still really good with good flavor.

BTW... the insulators, sold by surevapes for the vulcan... are a perfect fit for the drunker and I think better as they go up higher than the insulator that comes in the drunker. (you know, that little white piece that fits in the bottom) They're only .39 each and free shipping over $5

Yeah cotton in my drunker is real hit and miss. I've been pondering on modding the air flow because I know that's where my problem is. Cotton is really finicky in what devices work well with it. So far I haven't been able to beat the rounds in my mini vivi novas with nr-wire welded legs. I love the idea of ss mesh, have a couple did clones running right now but they get too hot for a chain vaper. But everything is ust a couple mods away from awesome so ya never know.
