Yes. Without cotton the small silica wick burns juice very quickly so it's not juicy enough for me and my sub ohm builds.
Nice post Vcoupe. Really appreciate that sort of detail in a post.

My build is very similar. However, I discovered what you did with cotton, by filling to the point of flooding, the reservoir with my eliquid. Also, my coils ended up on the deck essentially. I hate cotton and not a fan of silica, but am out of ecowool right now. I can taste both cotton/silica and silica frays to much. Eco wool works great if I torch it first off, then cut to length, great taste and no fraying.

I am not touching mine again other then to re-wick, until I get my ecowool… unless I decide to try some SS mesh.

For those daring to make a hobby of this, I find this coil setup works better than some others

I set the resistance too high but you get the idea. One peice of kanthal micro coiled and twisted in 8s.

Thanks for taking the time to do up the pictures and detail, great shots! Did your order come with the replacement revised drip tip to eliminate any shorting? The coils in your pics wouldn't short on it as they are quite low, but the center post is high enough if you don't have the replacement tip it could. All orders on and after 3/12 have shipped with the new revised drip tip. If you don't have the revised, in the meantime, you can just run a regular 510 tip and shoot us an email to supertmanufacturing@yahoo.com and we'll get you out a replacement.

Tip Shorting Issue, an explanation and update:

It seems the tip shorting issue has taken on a life of its own. I just wanted to give an update and quash any rumors.

First, the design: By design, The Vortex screw extends up into the base of the tip approximately .100 thousandths of an inch. It was designed with .015 clearance between the post.

Second, the issue: The issue is with the Drip Tip's inner diameter, it is not a problem with the Strata. During beta testing there wasn't any issues with shorting, so it was not a problem we could foresee. Some in the field though have had the post short on the tip if it gets misaligned.

Solution: When we became aware of the problem, we immediately started on a solution. This involved opening the Drip tip inner diameter up. If you are having shorting issues, until your replacement tip arrives, simply switch to any regular 510 drip tip.

Status:

- All orders after 3/12 have shipped with the new updated tip.

- Those who's orders shipped before 3/12 (this number is really small, probably 25 units total we shipped) shoot us an email if you'd like a larger tip to supertmanufacturing@yahoo.com and we'll get you out a new one, in the meantime, switch to any standard 510 tip.

- For those who ordered from Cloud 9 Vaping, the revised replacement tips have been sent out to them and they will update your tip for you.

Dave, so all your doing is drilling out the bottom then right? I can do that myself..

Yes, it just needs to be opened up to .225-250 id and about 1/8 inch deep (dont go too deep or you'll ruin the tip) . We drilled about 10 of them on our mini lathe and then got smart and did the other 400+ on our CNC lathe with a boring bar, much quicker that way.

Sounds easy enough. Thanks

David: I emailed you for my replacement drip tips for my Simplicity Stratas. Just checking to see you received my email. I have not had time to play with my Stratas yet. But, one of them was a gift. So, I am anxious to get the new tip to the person who has the gifted Strata.

Hi Cucco, Yep, we got your message and we'll get those tips out to you today!

No I have the original design drip tip and I will need a longer lower pin to adjust the battery rattle. The brass one that came with it is way too short. It's an 18650 battery tube

The longer screw in switch post included will take up to 7 washers on it. To adjust the battery rattle though, you'll need to add an oring or two to the bottom of the battery chamber , the screw in post won't adjust the rattle only the button throw length. Included in your parts kit are also some washers and two thick and two thin orings. First set up the orings. The orings come in two thicknesses, .100 thick and .070 thick. I'd start with 3 thick (.300) and see if the rattle is there or if its too tight. Adjust accordingly. If too tight, go with two thick and one thin (.270) or is its too loose, go with two thick two thin (.340). Then adjust the center post up to the throw you'd like by adding washers.

On the tip, yep, we can get you out a longer one, if you haven't already, shoot us and email to supertmanufacturing@yahoo.com with your real name and address and we'll get it out to you!

Thanks Vcoupe, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
