During testing my major brainchild was dubbed the snorkwrap by David. It came as a result of me pondering a way to make a coil which would take full advantage of the Strata's 360 degree airflow. I never made a decent one, but I did just now after having some months to think about a good way to do it.

First I packed the juice well loosely with 3mm silica wick, snaking it back and forth between the two side wells. The reason I initially tried this is so that the coiled wick could saturate evenly along its entire length; the long coil as you shall see is a separate piece which sits atop it.

I had tried Spheroid type fluff initially but became concerned about the coil making contact, thus my switch to silica.

The wick and coil is made from 2mm Ekowool and 26 gauge Kanthal. With this thing I'm not too concerned about number of wraps, in my mind it's exclusively a Kicked coil.

So you see I've inserted a hatpin down the interior of the Ekowool for stability and wrapped it...14 times? Whatever I eyeballed to get me the correct length - as you will see. The two little loops at the ends are David's brainchild, wrap a loop around a screwdriver first and then when you go to install your coil all you need to do is insert the post through the loop and you're golden, no finicky finagaling.

Above is the semi-installed coil. Notice how I've left the second negative post completely off and the coil is beginning to encircle the interior of the atomizer. More smooshing will be necessary to make it tidy.

I then took the free ends of the Ekowool and tucked them underneath the coil, sitting on top of the silica and supporting the coil slightly above the deck.

Above we have further manipulated the coil into shape and juiced it up. It is important that the coil falls entirely within the milled out sidewalls of the well so as not to come into contact with the interior of the top cap.

Above is a side view showing the position of the coil above the "deck". Subject to revision.

The Strata in this configuration takes a while to heat up with that length of 26 as you can imagine, but when it does it really pumps it out. The adjustable draw is *great*, vapor production awesome and throat hit raunchy just the way I like it. Unfortunately I can't speak too much about flavor for a couple reasons. One, this coil has very much still that New Coil Smell. Two, my idea of flavor is probably far removed from most others', I have a feeling I vape fairly neutral flavor, I dig the feel more than anything else.

Here's my rig. A hodgepodge of finishes and materials. Titanium ribbed 18650, ribbed SS Kiklet, and polished Strata. It's a beaut though. The snorkwrap is but one idea and probably far from bliss. I urge you all to continue to think outside the box.

Testers: Have fun! No pressure. We can wait. :)
I can confidently say that the minor tweaks David made as a result of testing has yielded a *superior* atomizer. I'm fairly certain a snorkwrap is my passing fad, it has been rattling around in my brain and I just had to let it out.
It's a good thing I'm going to visit my juice guy next week, this 24mg WTA is a bit much to handle right now. ;)

The production unit is definitely a few steps up from the beta versions. Some changes are not noticeable to the naked eye, but they are obvious performance-wise. I will still need to play around a bit to see what works best. For now, I just whipped up a quick standard single coil (26g, 7 wraps on a 3/32" nail...approx 0.85 ohms).

More to come folks!!!

EDIT: Sorry for the crappy pics. I used my phone camera for those shots. I'll break out the big boy for the next set.

When I get mine I'm going for the full experience, I want to vape what ever gunk David leaves behind, it only just builds character and I would be a part of him. That would be something very special.

Yeah... Was thinking the same thing. I bet he would be over the moon if David sent him some toenail clippings! XD I poke fun but I mean no ill will.

On the main note... OMG IM SO EXCITED! So glad I got a simplicity and a strata for it too... I wouldn't be able to stand watching everyone fiddle months before the ELA ones come in. Lol

Bwahahaha!
I was thinking the same thing, along with  and a few others that don't work on here. If I were Dave, I'm not sure if I'd be flattered, or worried!

After seeing these builds, even though we had seen them on the betas, I'm now seriously hoping, no praying the shipping notice includes a Strata, or two! :nun:

Thanks to the testers! Cheers guys, keep em coming! :toast:

snork, quite a gap between top cap and base in your photo, you can screw it down completely right?

You sure can, but then you cut the air off completely. ;)
That particular gap has the air basically wide open. You guys are going to dig the air control. It's the best I've ever seen.
