I was thinking maybe some kind of comb. A small one, something my young daughter might have. Just haven't had time to look just yet.

I think it looks like you could rig a jig by pounding a straight line of finishing nails into a 2X4. You could vary the amplitude and wavelength with various sized nails and spacing.

I do the same builds all the time, so I never have to use that Resistance Calculator Spreadsheet we have. But, with the Strata, if I use coils, I think I will be needing to use it. :)

If anyone wants a copy of it, PM me your email address. :)
I think I have it bookmarked....but I think it'll pretty much be useless for builds like the snorkwrap and oriphan (or however that's spelled)...well except for the data chart that gives the resistance per inch of the various guage wires

I found some recent updates to the "resistance calculators" that may be helpful for those building standard coils (single, dual, quad). Agreed that they will be of limited assistance with custom Strata type builds (snorkwrap / Ophion) but they are pretty flexible with regard to customizing so YMMV...

I built a new coil tonight along the lines of the ophion/snorkwrap. I don't have my strata yet, but you can get the idea. I think I'll call it the crown or cheerios build. What do you think?

It looks a little warped in the first pic, but it's just the angles.

Very nice. Im waiting for my ELA StraTa.. Love seeing all the different builds..

Maybe we should start a "StraTa Builds Thread". So we have different setups, how to's and pics of builds all in one place.

I was using the MattyB1503 calculator. Yes, it will only work for traditional coils. :)

So beautiful... Anxiously awaiting the simplicity so I can fire this feat of engineeringimage.jpgimage.jpg my definition of polished is a little more mirror finish so I ... Cringe... Took some 1500 grit and made it really shine :) and gold plated my tip... It's smaller than I expected hahaimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg thought I would try my own little coil creation using a single piece of braided ceramic and two vertical coils... I'll let you guys know how it works out!!

Very cool! I get to use Metsmafia's, great phrase, in a sentence again! I love, David's unique interpretation of the word polished!

I have put my machinist on notice. All things made for me, must be 'David's Polished'. :)
