Truth be known, they probably got a bunch of them for free from P4U. They should provide them free of charge for anyone that preordered when it was still advertised as included. Especially VapeNW who says no cancellations on the eBay preorder.

I am not excited about a additional 20 bucks. I think I will hold off and see how well they work for people and then decide if I even feel I need one.

I still don't understand the need for 9V.

Lithium batteries take a strict 4.2V to charge with a +/- .05V

So that tells me that we should have an 8.5V charger. Am I not thinking this straight??
No, you are not thinking this straight. You asume that the charger is going to directly charge the batteries. What you don't probably understand is that there is a charging circuit built inside the ipv3 that will take that 9V and regulate it to what the batteries need to charge properly.

Now the only question is whether it will balance charge the cells or not.

Correct , and I won't be buying a charger until this balance thing is verified. I don't mind taking the batteries out as I've been on the same set if batteries for 3 days.

Thats exactly right they definitely should , no excuse at all not to include a charging cord with a mod like this , ridiculous to the extreme to charge extra.

I didnt pre order like many here. So I wasn't promised a charger. I just got my ipv3 a week ago so I'm not that ...... about having to pay extra for the charger. I just hope the damn thing has a balance charging circuit built in. It would really surprise me if it didn't though. They are smarter than that, I hope. Putting in a non balance charger in this mod would be the equivalent of shooting themselves in the foot.

After reading most of the posts in this thread about the battery light turning green right away with a 9 volt charger and I thought 9 volts sounds too low for charging an 8.4 volt battery so I measured a nipple top 18650 sitting full charged in my Nitecore I-4 (while in the charger and charger on) and it read 5.34 volts in the charger and 4.2 out of the charger. The charger was showing finished charge on this battery. You guys can connect the dots form here. Looks to be around 11 volts needed to me.

Still doesn't negate the fast that even if you apply 5vcd or 12vdc to it yhe LED still remains green and ZERO (0) voltage is coming out of the charging circuit period with or without the batteries installed, with or without the the unit being on or off.
The fact is P4Y was is such a rush to compete in the in the high wattage for wattage sake game they had no reguard for quality control much less R&D.

This is not the fault of YiHi the Sx330 does what it does yes all the way to 150w.
As is the IPV3 is nothing special and does not warrant it's cost. It's just a box with a 150w sx330 chipset nothing else $100 or less mod.

Had everything worked out of the box AND a charger packaged with it then I could see the justification of the cost.

Completely agree with this; however, I got my IPV3 from Vapenw for only $115, with free 2 day shipping, so it is a good device for what I paid for. I've read, on the forums, that some people paid $150.

Has anyone switched to a magnetic back cover yet? I want to, but want someone else to do it first.

Understandable. Why not just keep it for a higher wattage device and use the dna40 as your main device? I use my cana mod dna30 clone for everything else. Are you that mad at P4U that you want to sell it? I mean, I know you are mad, but why not just keep it since it does perform well....?

No just really dont need it, I got plenty of mods.
Only reason I bought it to begin with is because the shiny new object devil made me LOL
That and I wanted to prove a point to some guys that one doesn't need high wattage to blow thisk flavor clouds.
It's all about effectively vaporizing liquid, with the right amount of air flow.
Whether it be a 1.4ohm build at 20w or 0.2ohm build at 80w.
More watts does not necessarily equal larger clouds or more flavorful vapor.
