Is an istick worth it?

You beat me to it, Katrider and FrenchFry, but I'll stick it in a window here for easy access.

Phil Busardo does a very in depth review on the istick. It should answer any questions people have about it. I plan to order one, but was waiting for all the hoopla to settle down and revisions to kick in. I definitely want one for pocket carry and stealthy use. My Provari sticks out like a sore thumb in public with a kayfun on top. :)

Thanks for all the information guys. As I said im extremely new to all this just 3 weeks off the smokes and have only used these ego twists. I do know I ordered the southern shine from good life and was so excited to try it. It tastes okay I like it doesn't seem like I inhale any of it. Smoke comes out in exhale but it guess it just has no throat hit even at 24 mg nicotine. Would this istick change that or does that not have anything to do with with a throat hit?

Maybe. The Istick certainly can deliver more power than the twist can. But, there comes a point where too much power will give you a burnt taste depending on the topper/juice you're using.

Moving from an eGo to just about anything with an 18650 battery and variable voltage/wattage is a big upgrade. At the prices the iStick is selling for it's a bargain. Technical issues like MEAN vs RMS voltage don't mean anything unless you need to compare it to something else. You dial it up and down to find the sweet spot and leave it there just like your eGo Twist or Spinner.

The eGo also has some issues with dialed voltage being scaled back when the current load nears the design max. You can think you are vaping at 4 volts when it's really 2.9 because 4v would result in overcurrent conditions on a low range atomizer.

The iStick will do that too, but it's more robust and will let you vape in a wider range before it throttles you back.

I haven't read all the replies here but I just want to say go for it, you won't regret it. I'm only about 6 weeks into this and own many....too many...more than one person needs ego sticks. I was hesitant to get the iStick because I thought it would be bulky in my purse. I find I use it most of the time now because I get the best vapes and the battery lasts forEVER. I actually dropped it in the parking lot on my way into the office and both the iStick and my Pyrex Protank 3 are unscathed. Amazing.

I will just caution unless you're partial to the colour pink don't order 'red'. It's not red :p

shultsy24 give me a shout if you need help when your gear comes in. Also post questions here as well, we all here to help. Congrats on being off the coffin nails.

For me when I have a juice that lacks in throat hit, I bump the power, if that does not help I take a small bottle and add a little VG to it to help increase the TH, keep in mind this can dilute the flavor. The advantage of vaping (or disadvantage) is that taste is subjective and you have a lot of variables especially compared to the coffin sticks. Meaning when you buy a pack of cigs it is what it is, you have zero control of any of it. With vaping you have so many other things that you are in control of; resistance, power to name a few.

My advice is when you get your shiny new gear, slow down and take a moment. Read the instructions if it comes with any, clean everything that juice goes in with vodka and water. Get a feel for what is like to assemble and disassemble (leave them empty for this). Remember snug is good do not tighten anything on with force.

I realize none of this is new for you as you are already vaping. I'm just recalling some of the issues and mistakes I made when I was starting out.

If I had to choose between the stick and mvp (and I have both) I would go with the istick. But then I use all rba's. I had to adjust to the istick with the pwm making it seem overpowered, but I figured it out as soon as I put it on an inline voltage tester. Wasn't sure if it was defective or supposed to be that way as I got one of the initial releases, but I said oh well, its cheap and it works, lol! I'm glad Phil Busardo found the same thing I did as I really didn't want to send it back. I'm fond of the little mod.

IStick has become my go to device. My Provari Mini along with 5 18350's reside in my glove box as emergency gear now.

The combo of size, power, and battery life is unbeatable. Especially for the price!

I wouldn't go that far. The eleaf istick, because of it's physical dimensions, is only suitable for the smaller tanks, IMO, (I'm lovin' the Nauty mini on it). I still use my Provaris for the full size Nauty's. Or my Hana clone, or various 22mm devices. I just don't like to use a tank that's wider than a device. Or, a device that's narrower than a tank. Looks odd.

Besides, I'm still partial to my Zombie mini.

I have the Provari (V2 I think?) with the goofy tapered top cap. 22mm toppers look ridiculous on it IMO. Biggest thing I dislike about it is the atrocious battery life of the 18350's. I could extend it, but it's already quite pocket unfriendly.

While I do use a full size Naughty BVC for my ADV, I also use the mini along with Aspire K1's for my change up juices. Of all of them, I prefer the K1's aesthetically.

The Provari extension cap is expensive at $24.95, but it takes you from 3 or 4 hours (with an 18350) to pretty much all day from morning to bedtime on a good 18650 battery. The extension cap adds 11/16" (just under 3/4") to the length.

I bought a couple of 18350's hoping to shorten my Provari V2, but those stay in the box. 800mah compared to 2250mah is no contest at all.

The full size Provari uses 18490's, or 18650's with extension cap. The Mini uses 18350's, or 18490's with the extension cap.

I'd agree with Larry on the physical dimenions. Here shown with the 19 mm tank. Istick & IBTanked 19mm.jpgI've not picked up my Ego's or Joyetech since this arrived. With mini drip tip, it's 4 7/8" stem to stern. Easily transportable, lasts 2 to 3 days per charge and a full day of juice.

I got mine yesterday and the power management definitely has problems when set to lower voltage or wattage. Which I was expecting, so I only got it for use with my full sized Nautilus, which requires higher power settings than the Davides I usually use. I tried a Davide on it out of curiosity and was definitely getting scorched flavor on the lowest settings.

The 510 connector is also a little wonky, so I'm using the Ego adapter and a beauty ring, which actually looks better than having the Nautilus sitting not quite flush with the Istick. This kind of negates the small size advantage.

Maybe you have a defective unit? I have 3 iSticks and 12 Nautilus tanks (regular and mini) and they all sit perfectly flush without any sort of adapter or beauty ring.
