I log in daily but rarely post - i prefer to lurk unless i've had a drink or two. Or unless someone posts something i disagree with and i can raise the effort to respond. Or unless i'm bored. Or unless i feel chatty...
ECF isn't really about vaping for me anymore, it's just a way of connecting. I guess i could find a different forum but i feel a part of this one.
Sort of feeling half chatty tonight - hence this post :p

in Poole myself. Everyone seems a bit chatty tonight
Soon as the lockdown has eased
I already had to stop the car in the middle of the road for the short skirts already drunk, that was alright. They seemed happy

then I stopped the car 5 min later for some drunk guy watching his phone also in the middle of the road, that was less alright ;)

all this by 18:30 haha

I will say a) I credit ECF for saving my life, so I will always be fond of it.
This. I found and joined ECF the day after I got my first starter kit in the mail and was just seeing the potential. I wasn't on death's door, but the side effects of 3-1/2 decades of smoking were definitely taking a toll on my health.

I was amazed at the warm welcome and non-judgmental encouragement I got despite being a total n00b. "Don't count the cigs you're still smoking, count the ones you're not" was great advice. Less than a week later, the ones I wasn't smoking became all of them. In fact, I never finished the pack had open when I joined. I do not believe that would have happened without ECF, and I wonder what kind of shape I'd be in now if I was still smoking 40+ a day. I don't think it would be a pretty picture.

I'm not as active here as I used to be because I'm quite settled in my ways, with enough quality gear and nic base to last the rest of my life. But I'm not going anywhere either.

Another point is, things are so much easier nowadays, plenty of plug and play stuff, years ago, had to research and ask a lot of questions to get a decent vape and learn.

I learnt sooooo much here at the beginning, and grateful for that :)
That's definitely true, but I also think that most smokers who were inclined to quit via vaping, have already tried. The younger generation doesn't smoke as much, so the potential pool of vapers is shrinking. I just don't see many new vapers around where I live .... at least not our kind of vape. The younger people are more drawn toward Juul and similar devices.

It's curious how things change from one country to another.

Here in Spain the brand Juul and similar small pod systems haven't really been a big hit.
Yes you see them at the tobacco shops but vape shops don't usually carry products like Juul.

Younger people in Spain either don't smoke, smoke cigs, smoke weed/hash or a combo of the 2 last ones.
Apart from that if you take vapers they usually approach vaping like i did,get something to start with like one of those vape sticks that cost 20 euros or so.
If they like it and they get rid of smoking all together then after a while they need more flavor and/or cloud production so the move to bigger mods and rebuildable atomizers.

But Juul like systems? nah almost no one uses those.

Texts are unacceptable. From loved ones. More than 20 characters. My sis is a texter extraordiare she has an APPLE WATCH to use on MARATHON trainings. I hate her. LOL

So is 1-800-CONTACTS who said they would be in touch via text but didn't. They SUCK don't make me get into it. I ALSO sometimes feel like I am unduly dependent on and simultaneously have to "Feed" google maps. It will be like, "No one has been here but you.; Can you provide details or even pics?" I do it.; Mainly because with ONE wrong turn it could take me, document less into MEXICO and I would be powerless to stop it.

I cannot decide if it's better or worse than the one in 45 times MapQuest directions would be horribly wrong and peter out and you would have to go like BACK 15 miles to the nearest municipal type building and like, beg for aid and they'd be like "THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME HAHAHAH."

And you'd be like "I am really late can you stop laughing and help me?"

Needed: Chauffeur and map reader.

Yep,agree 100%.

Each time i see TLDR it makes me want to bend over, grasp my knees and assume a fetal position on the floor while crying.

Now when you type more than 140 characters they will disregard it,like if reading is a chore.
Wall of text? more like you're lazy and you refuse to read a couple paragraphs.

And now it's even worst with emojis,at least before they used words albeit they switched what to wut but ok it could be worst but now we have things like this:

View attachment 894467

I have no idea what all that means,do i need to go to university and study Egyptian Hieroglyphic Writing?

Instant gratification thru the small screen of your phone, problem is if you rely on your phone for social interactions you actually forget or never learn how to interact with another human being in person.

Previous girlfriend (was with her for 2 years) bought me a total of 4 smartphones,1 for each birthday and one for Christmas).
She had to return all 4 of them, she complained that she couldn't get in touch with me,i said sure you can, look for my name...press the green key and call me!!
Not spending 2 hours texting like a teenager and talking about nothing because before you actually talked hence you needed to give and take content...now it's just about the viral videos,a picture of your lunch or you taking a selfie.

tl;dr
couldn’t be bothered to read that wall of text.
Look at this cat taking a selfie

Oh yeah I almost forgot the staple of any text ;)

In fact, I never finished the pack had open when I joined.
I was out of smokes and was at the shop to get another pack but the line was too long so I decided to kill (unintentional but appropriate pun) some time and looked at the 'vape stuff' that was on display. I ended up leaving with an eGo starter kit, certain that I would buy another pack within a few hours, but I haven't bought a pack in nearly 6 years. Thanks ECF and all of her members.

For me its because it's hard for me to help these days. I dont know how many are in this boat, but I have been helping here for years, but my vaping style just doesn't help many folks these days, so I find myself here less and less....theres just not to many new folks that need info on mtl, rebuildable, lower wattage vaping . Out with the old and in with the new I guess....

I have found your advice very helpful.
but I understand. I have the style, I read what I needed and then stopped

vaping isn’t really one of those 10,000 hours to become a master

I even have master after my name. Ludicrous

    :offtopic:

This thread has gone a little bit off topic I thinko_O

It's a shame, but most of the times many threads can and do - It's inevitable . . . :( Worse are those who let it happen until someone "Speaks" up (so Thanks for that) . . . Matter of fact, finally had to "ask" admin to close the last thread I started because it kept getting off topic - it was supposed to be kind of a "Support" thread - but got way too political at times and didn't stay on topic . . . Oh Well - "Life" in a public forum . . . Just Sayin' . . .

And now it's even worst with emojis,

    HEY - YOU ! ! ! Better not be messin' with the Emojis/Smiley . . . Those are fighting words . . . Remember what some people say "A picture is worth a thousand words" . . . or "Pictures or it didn't happen" . . . :img:

    (Although, Ya' are correct . . . :thumb: ) Just Sayin' . . .

    Back on Topic . . .

Totally Agree ^ ^ ^ ^ What "Rossum" Said . . . Same for "Me" with only a couple of differences, took me a little longer after being a 50+ years a smoker (actually like any other additic - still am, although no longer using any tobacco products) . . . AND - Even though, I've had a "Time-Out" and strayed to other forums a few times . . . If it wasn't for ECF and all the help, support & encouragement from all the ECF Friends I've made here (to many to list and some who have moved on) - I don't think I would have made it this far . . . It took me over 9 years to become a "Full-Time" Vaper (was a dual user until 1 1/2 years ago) . . . So as long as I can (well depending on health & @classwife  ) . . . "I'm not going anywhere either" . . . Whether Ya' like it or not . . . :pervy: :pervy: :pervy: :pervy: :pervy: :pervy:

    Just Sayin' . . .

But Juul like systems? nah almost no one uses those.

Some here speculate that it has do with TPD's nicotine strength regulations. Juul pods sold in Europe were limited to 20 mg/ml, which made them pretty tame in comparison to U.S. 60 mg/ml. Also, JUUL was very heavily promoted on social media here, especially targeting the younger crowd (high school/college kids), which ultimately led to their downfall and hurt the cause of vaping in U.S. considerably.

But I also know that many adult smokers finally managed to quit smoking thanks to JUUL's innovative salt nicotine in high concentration (as opposed to commonly used freebase).

I think that generally speaking, hobbyist/enthusiast vaping is on the steep decline, at least in the United States, due in large part to people seeing the writing on the wall and knowing that soon it will be a small miracle if they can get a device and some juice without jumping through a million hoops, if even then.

You can always make your own.

The crap only started in 2009, so we have only had 10 years to figure it out.
Yes, that's right, over 10 years to figure out how to become SELF RELIANT.

I don't know about anyone else, but there is NOTHING that I can't make myself.
(except batteries that is) Do ya expect batteries to disappear too !?!
