The hammer is coming and it's going to hit hard ... there are just not enough voices to stop BG from hijacking vaping.

Our numbers are so small ... think about what we are up against, BG, BT, BP and every non-smoker on the planet (they've already been sold on the dangers of vaping and have moved on).

I saw this coming 2 years ago when I quit smoking with vaping, I wondered how BG had not already $cooped up vaping ... I knew there was no stopping what is about to happen.

I saw no choice other than to stock enough vape gear and supplies to continue vaping for 10+ years, even in a worst case scenario where everything is banned and nothing is available.

I think they are not considering that many (most?) vapers will not go back to buying cigs.
They will still fall short of their "sin" taxes.
I know I won't give BT a dime more.

They don't care about us few, who have slipped the noose ... they are banking on the people still smoking :smokie:

I read somewhere recently that it was right around 9 million in the US, I'm not sure how accurate that number is but let's use that as a baseline.

Roxynoodle and I did the math a couple days ago and I believe we were conservative.

Some assumptions, those 9 million are 1 PAD smokers, no more no less
The tax averaged across all states is $1.00
That would be $9,000,000.00 a day that isn't making it to the government coffers

Now here's the good one, annually it would be: $ 3,285,000,000.00

So basically we are just screwing with their piggybank. Better to have you back on smokes!

Check my math ;)

Your Numbers are kinda Off.

Because the Federal Government alone get $1.01 for Every Pack of Cigarettes sold in the United States. Regardless of what State they are sold in.

Then, On Top of that, states have their own Separate Tax which Varies from State to State. Here is a Map of what State Taxes looked like on Jan 1st 2015...

In answer to the thread question, "Yes, it is all just an act of futility". Most people, even those here, are concerned only with their specific issues. They don't understand that the process is universal and that process is the restriction of individual freedom and control concentrated in Washington. However, unless it affects most personally then the process is ignored or it may be actively encouraged, if it is "good" for people, if it is "for the children", if it is to "save the planet" or if the restriction just seems like a good idea. Freedom of speech is now in the cross hairs of the government. How long will it be before you give away your right speak objectionable thoughts?

Freedom wasn't taken from us, we gave it away, little by little, now government control is silently accepted in every area of life. We don't squeal until it affects directly and personally.

Yep, needed a decimal point in there somewhere.

Thanks... fixed

What we really need is a referendum to set term limits. They were never supposed to be life time appointments.

What's a decimal point error here and there when dealing the Feds? Million, billion, trillion what do the Feds care, it just taxpayer money.

Two words that should never be used together,"political" and "career". Now, if you wanted to substitute "thief", I could go for that (or worse).

Which is why I don't cotton much to politicians period.

I think every single politician on the Federal level should be tried for treason against this country and its citizens for favoring "special interests" and the kickbacks they earn for voting in favor of them instead of the constituents. Unfortunately, the law allows it to happen and that won't change until THEY change it. Unlimited terms won't change until THEY change it. So we know that's never going to happen unless we manage to throw every single one of their collective asses out of office.

We need to start nominating, campaigning and voting for people who have no real interest in "politics" but have every interest in supporting "We The People." And that will never realistically happen because of the general lethargy of the masses who are content to sit at home watching cable and scarfing down their Stouffer's dinners. As @CMD-Ky stated, we have given away our freedoms in favor of comfort. We don't speak up until something makes us uncomfortable and by then it's too late.
