Get a 3 mL syringe. Yank the rubber cap off the tip of the plunger and put it on your Mini's button.

Also, hold the atty/carto to your ear and gently press the button till you hear it fire. You don't have to mash it that hard.

Button mashing is our nature, so we have to retrain our brains to not mash it.

Just wanted to add that you don't have to completely depress the button in order for it to fire. In my experience, you only have to press it half way down or less before you hear the atomizer firing. So, it's been said before but, a good trick is to hold the REO right next to your ear while pressing the button in order to figure out how much pressure is needed.

This is my issue...I have to press the button completely for it to fire (completely means until I can press it no further)...Doesn't seem ok...

edit: I have tried cleaning the tip of the switch with alcohol and used noalox on it as well...

Do your batteries have a nipple on the positive ends?

Okay, so understand I have a bunch of metal REOs. I'm not meaning to be argumentative but every one of our REOs require a different degree of button pushing; some a whole lot and others only a little. And most of the REOs were purchased brand new and not as used.

They come new from REO with button action individual to each.

So I just can't sit back and let this misconception go on without comment. The degree of pressing is especially noticable to people who have hand afflictions, including arthritis; both of us at New Fort West.

So there.... I said it.:p

You are correct Alice They have gone through some changes .I think the newer models are very close though there inst much of a difference from one to another. These are done by hand not machine so there is going to be some differences

Post a picture of your reo with the battery installed and one with the battery out if you can.

Here you go:

P.S.: I have yet to try the syringe mod to see if it makes a difference, haven't had any time to buy the 3ml syringe...

edit: Yes I know, I need AW IMR for my mini, just received those...

It appears that you are actually getting a longer button action than I am. I can only guess that there might be some oxidation issues with the contact. Have you tried a dab of Noalox on the contact yet? (As a last resort! You might have to brush the contact once with fine sand-paper, and then reapply the Noalox.)

With my battery in place, I have about a 1.8mm range of motion before I actually make contact with the battery and hear sizzle.

Did it. Works awesome!
