Is this how it's done?

I want to get into DIY e-fluids. To see if it's at all worth it, could you guys help me with the math?

It'll cost me 5.50$ for an ounce of flavor extract, 5$ for about 30 ounces of propylene glycol, and 5$ for about 30 ounces of vegetable glycerin. I can get an 30 ounces of nicotine for about 75$.

Standard mixture is 3ml VG, 1ml PG, 4ml nicotine, 0.75ml flavor for a 10ml bottle of e-cigarette juice.

If I spent 55$ on flavoring (10oz), 5$ on VG (30oz), 5$ on PG (30oz) and 75$ on nicotine (30oz), I'd have spent 140$.

So I have 400 bottles worth of flavoring, 300 bottles worth of VG, 900 bottles worth of PG, and 300 bottles worth of nicotine. I take the lowest number because I can't make more without more materials from the lower numbers.

So from a 140$ investment, I'd have 300 10ml bottles. Typically 10ml bottles cost 10-30$ in my experience, so I would have 3000-9000$ of e-juice for such a small investment for personal use.

Is my math correct at all in this? Is that all that is required to make DIY ejuice?

I wait for box elder to have a sale last time I bought nic from there I paid $24 for 250 ML 48mg nic and at the moment my target level for e-juice is 8mg so if you do the math 24 dollars got me enough nic to make 1500ml of juice a gallon of VG is 15 dollars here Vegetable Glycerin USP Kosher
and if you pay say 6 bucks for an oz of flavoring it's really very inexpensive here is a juice calc that will break down your cost and help you mix your e-juice

Usually the way I look at it is to break it down to $/ml. I can make juice for about $0.10/ml (less if I was to buy larger bottles of nic, but I don't want that sitting around my house with kids, so I get smaller bottles I can lock up). Buying pre-made juice is maybe $.30-0.40/ml, depending on how much I get and which vendor.

So I could make 1000 ml of juice for $100, or I could buy 1000 ml of juice for $300-$400.

Nic seems extremely expensive in you calculations there. Its quite bit more expensive just starting out, but once your able to buy your flavoring in larger sizes and skip the middlemen, price drops quite rapidly. Perfumers Apprentice - Fruit and Vegetable Flavors

Shop around! Looks like you got robbed on the nic price.
100 MG Flavorless Nicotine Liquid
Unflavored PG/VG Mix (60 mg/ml Nicotine Concentration) - Void Mist

Are you talking to me or the OP? I got mine at RTS vapes, and ~$20 for the 60ml 100 mg/ml is about what it came to with shipping. Void Mist seems very reasonable, but every combination I picked from there said currently unavailable :)

The OP seems to have found a decent price if it really was 30 oz of nic base. That's almost 900 ml.

I typically go with no-nic juices anyways, I just wanted to compare nic-juice prices to nic-juice I could make on my own. Perfumery and Lorran Oils are probably my best bets for flavoring. PG and VG I can get at the local pharmacy. What of sweeteners? Where can I get some?

What are the proper proportions I should use? I did a Google search for guides and the general idea is 4ml PG/VG (I plan on 25% PG), 4ml nicotine, 0.75ml flavoring for a 10ml bottle, but since I'll have no nicotine, should I go 8ml PG/VG? I checked out that Excel spreadsheet in the stickies, but it's very complex and I don't know my way around it.

The PG and VG prices are negligible (5$ is a ballpark estimate for 30oz), but the flavoring is the cost I'm more concerned with. Both Perfumery and Lorran are generally 5-7$ an ounce, and an ounce can provide for up to 40 bottles of 10ml juice (so an order on 10 ounces = 400 bottles). I seem to keep hitting the 50$->4000ml figure, which is astounding, really.

edit; I should mention the reason I'm venturing into DIY e-juices. I typically order from TastyVapor, preferring their 4oz doublers for 15$~. If I tried out DIY, I could potentially cut my costs and get 100+ ounces for the cost of 10 ounces from TastyVapor.

Interesting about the water in the VG. I assume they do that to thin it down? I got PG base so hopefully it's not an issue.

The price still doesn't seem that bad to me. If it's 36 mg/ml then he'd be getting ~32,000 mg of nic for $75, which works out to .23 cents/mg.

My 100 mg/ml 60 ml RTS nic comes out to .36 cents/mg.

Unless I've done the math wrong, which is likely since it's almost midnight, lol.
