Zen built the ZAP since Provape didn't build their own RBA, that was a smart move on his part due to all the Provaris being sold.. Zenkote well that was more of a gift to Provape since they still use the inferior ceramic finish.
When it comes to mods Zen needs no help, so why would he give a royalty to Provape in a collaboration ? What exactly would be Provape's contribution be to the project? Zen can already use Evolv's DNA30 chip for a regulated device.....and he is genius when it comes to designs. ZNA is a prime example...
I have been with Provape since their inception of the Provape1, if they develop a new chip they will keep it exclusive as they have done with the Provari chip.... That protects their market share...
P.S. Zen already has plans for an extreme rugged waterproof mod with several days of battery life... Watch his videos...
Uh, pretty sure Zen just didn't "gift" ZenKote to Provape.. I think it's safe to say that money is changing hands under a licensing agreement..
Why does anybody enter into licensing agreements? One party has something of value & wants to make money from it; the other party brings something different of value to the table & also wants to make money from it..
In this "hypothetical" case, ProVape wants to sell a PV that has certain parameters.. but perhaps they don't have the in-house expertise to make it happen at the design & prototype level.. Who in this industry might have that rare expertise? Zen, with whom they already have a business relationship (ZAP, ZenKote).. So they make him an offer he can't refuse, and he works with ProVape at the design & prototype level.. Once they've got something they're happy with, Zen's part is pretty much finished, and he's free to focus his time & efforts on his own things... At this point ProVape takes on everything else to bring it to the customers' hands.. the financial aspect, the sourcing & manufacturing, the sales & marketing, the servicing, etc. -- you know, perhaps things that House of Hybrids doesn't have the current resources for...
ProVape pays Zen his cut per the licensing agreement, in whatever form it is (upfront fees, ProVape company stock, royalties, etc.), and they keep the rest..
It's not all that far-fetched, and this kind of stuff happens every day in the business world.. It's nothing new..
And yes, already aware of pbusardo's interview with Zen re: this upcoming PV...
Anyway, time will tell...
