Is vaping as good with a beer as cigarettes was?

As good? Not to me but pretty darn close. I make sure to have something with a killer TH to keep me satisfied on a drinking night.
I miss a good beer and smoke. I had to quit a while back. I'm not a friend from of Bill Cosby, had to quit due to the crohns.
This. 100%.
When I first switched to vaping, I missed the hell out of a good beer and a smoke. That was when I had my hardest times. But once you get past that, it becomes way better having a vape rather than a smoke. You can tailor you flavors to match the beer. For light lagers like corona for example, a lime or citrus vape goes fantastically. The citrus vape also goes well with IPAs, wheat beers, and hefeweisens.
I have not had the pleasure of indulging in a chocolate vape with a raspberry lambic, but thanks! I plan to and I've got just the pairing. Lindemans framboise with halo Belgian chocolate. I can taste it already.
I happen to be a beer geek, so the transition to beer and vape was a bit easier. I can taste my beer more now that I don't smoke, and the pairings are off the wall. Stouts and porters with coffee, vanilla, chocolate, and even ry4 vapes are a natural pairing. A banana vape with an Ayinger is a home run. The pumpkin beers thus time of year would go amazingly with a number if holiday vapes that ate in the scene currently. The possibilities are endless.

Glad to provide some inspiration Kemosabe. The raspberry lambic/chocolate vape is a tasty combo indeed. Just goes to show the breadth of vaping and drinking. There are some truly killer combos out there. I plan to try a citrus/IPA combo soon. Never considered it but you have me intrigued.

I love beer. ("When I was seventeeeen, I drank a very goooood beeer"). I can drink casually or I can party hard all night and my vape works just fine. I can up the voltage if I want that hot throat hit, or I can just stay at my normal daily vape setting. I've gotten pretty sloshed since I started vaping (not bragging, i don't brag about how "hard" i party, just giving a point of reference). My vape never left my hand, and I never even desired a real cig.

Any IPA from Burning River, or maybe even Dogfish Head 90 minute pale ale. Stay away from Sierra Nevada, IMO. Not knocking it, but there are a lot of other, better IPAs out there.
Also, have you tried any of the citrus or fall flavors from Sam Adams? They're always reliable.
We got into a beer-and-vape pairing conversation here from the flip side, what beers might pair with a strong, punchy vape like Radiator Pluid, which is strongly Anise-based, with some mint & citrus. I'm thinking a Chocolate & Coconut, like Maui's Coconut Porter, or else a sweeter Belgian Tripel that has some good fruity nose to it. I do little mini-pairings in a vape-friendly beer bar in SF pretty regularly, but that one's a challenge, heh.
I dunno, but i'm satisfied with a Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat while I vape. It could be just be me though.

So are you trying to find a vape that was similar to your drinking days? Or a vape to go with your beer? I'm a bit confused on your status. If you're not vaping while drinking, you can choose any flavor you want (you could still choose any flavor while drinking, also.)
I admit I'm a bit confused with your question. Maybe a tad more info and I/we could help you better? There are many people, myself included, eager to help you.

youre going to want a big, in your face hop character to blend well with the citrus vape. i suggest any dry hopped brew. i also suggest just about anything by Lagunitas. Loose Cannon by Heavy Seas (Clipper City) is another great choice. So is Mojo and Mojo Risin by Boulder. Gubna by Oskar Blues, and Ghandi Bot by New England. the #1 thing to look for is a FRESHLY brewed IPA. look for 3 months MAX on age. or if there is a drink by date, make sure you arent even close (more than a month away). otherwise, you'll end up with the mellowed hop character that often plagues IPAs. you want the fresh, intense hop character that is only present in fresh ipas.
Rocketpunk says to avoid Sierra Nevada, but my best guess is that hes saying to avoid Seirra Nevada Pale Ale (SNPA), which tastes very hoppy for a pale ale (more hoppy than some other breweries attempt at an INDIA pale ale), so lots just lump it in with IPAs. its got enough hops to compliment a citrus vape, but it wouldnt be the *best* choice. better than lots, but not a perfect match. sometimes SNPA is the freshest in the store, depending on the store. it never has a date, but its RARELY ever dull/mellowed. this is due primarily to its popularity. so theres a slight trade-off.
However, Sierra Nevada does offer some true IPAs: Hoptimum, Torpedo, Celebration Ale, Floral IPA, and even the Imperial Red and Imperial Pils go well with citrus vapes.
My citrus vape of choice is Citrus Punch from Quick Nic. its an in-your-face incredibly intense citrus blast. it is such a home run while drinking you dont even know. for one, its got citrus blast for the flavor, but the citrus blast is two-fold. the citrus blast has an amazing sensation that is incredibly satisfying while boozed-up. most folks want a little extra kick while drinking, and this vape delivers.

I don't think it's the same, but a higher nic liquid with a tobacco base works pretty well. When I'm sittin' at the bar watching baseball and all the smokers run outside at the commercial breaks, its better!
thats a tougher one. i might suggest a belgian. dubbel or tripel would probably be good. an absinthe based drink might be an even better choice.
oh, and i forgot to mention, if anyone likes gimlets and/or is intrigued by my mentions of Citrus Punch, get on the train. im floored night after night how enjoyable a nice gimlet is with CP.
Cup of dark roast coffee, NLV Gold or Heather's Oompa and a snifter of B&B (candle flame warmed)....That's it!
