Once you have made your initial purchases and are satisfied with what you have, it is easy to stabilize at a dollar a day.

Ego threading is 510 plus eGo. With eGo threading, you can use a larger variety of devices, including 510. The eGo threading is on the outside of the attachment area.

The fitting which I think is probably ego has a shroud around the external thread on the clearomiser, so it won't fit my 510 battery.

The bit that works for me is the battery which fits all my 510 stuff (originally Vapourlites cartomiser kit). While I'm experimenting with rewinding atomiser heads, sometimes I get the resistance too low and my 18350 doesn't last all day. The standard 650mAh that comes with the KIK kit has already come in handy as a backup spare.

As yet I've not found a UK supplier for battery side threaded inserts for my battery mods, previously I had to buy a Vapourlites for £6.99 to strip for parts (the battery is only 180mAh) Now I have the option of the KIK battery that will fit 2 different standards, the starter kit is slightly more at £9.99 but has a worthwhile 650mAh battery and optional extras upto 1100mAh. The battery is fit for purpose as it is - any that fail will become donors for future battery mods.

Hi,

depends on how much you smoke and how much it costs in your area to smoke.
do an honest calculation, include gas to go pickup cig, include the tax, include how many you bum out.

for me, in the southern US, roughly $5.00 a pack (tax tag and title).
i was smoking 1/3 of a pack. so smoking costs me about 1.66 a day.
vaping, costs me about $2.25 a day.
i don't buy elcheapo juice. i did buy a pv but have not busted it out to use it just yet.
(any pv is just initial cost anyways and should not be included in your consumption per day estimate - imo)
i use clearo with disposable/re-usable coils (i am not really finding them coils all that re-usable).
and i dont' want to invest in super duper cleaning kit .. which may or may not (i'll bet NOT) put the coil back to like-new condition.
believe coil cleaning is a myth and people just like to save money when in reality they are getting a poor vape.
anyhow ...
the "which one is cheaper" question is up to the individual.
For me, i don't mind paying a little bit higher for vaping.
My wife not griping at me is .... priceless.
Since you in Cali, pretty sure vaping will be cheaper for you unless you only smoke like 2 cigarettes a day or something.

Be Healthy / Happy Vaping.

I stopped smoking for obvious health risks and began vaping hoping it would be a safe cheaper alternative to smoking and quickly realized its not at least in my case, is the same true for you guys and gals?

It definitely depends on how much of a heavy smoker someone is. Personally, the eGos didn't do it for me. I "needed" a much warmer vape close to a real cig which led me to higher wattage/voltage mods within a week of getting into vaping. Those tend to be much higher priced--not always, but more often than not.

My tally was 25g of hand-rolling tobacco/day.

The Vapourlites cartomiser kit was just good enough to keep me off smoking.

Now I'm using a Liberty Flights Vivi-Nova. Its taking a bit of trial & error winding my own atomiser coils, but I'm more or less good to go without spending huge money on hyped up rip-off junk.

I guess one can spend whatever their heart desires! Just saw a thread on a forum where someone was trying to find an available $1,000 mech mod. :)

I did get a 69 clone from Fasttech yesterday, but it was only a little more than $20 - splurging for me. I really like the thing. Very well made and comfortable to use with a kick and Protank. I usually use a kicked Nemesis clone.

I was given an ego t 900 mah battery and a charger by a friend. I bought a dual coil catromizer and some ejuice for 11 dollars added anther ego t with a passthrough and a dual coil iclear 16 clearomizer 20 dollars a case for 5 bucks so my total so far 36 dollars I was smoking at least 2 packs a day 70 dollars a week and now I vape about 10mg a week 7 bucks so id say cheaper :)

Personally I think it generally falls under three categories

- Those who spend too much money making the mistake of considering it a hobby rather than an alternative.
- Those who aren't satisfied with the performance of their first setup and spend more dollars looking for something that works.
- Those who get overwhelmed by all the choices and get caught up in the experimentation.

If you don't fall under any of those categories, what's the cost difference attributed too?

My philosophy, find something that works and stick with it.

If you are like me and start with cheap electronics e-sigs and you work your way up buying better equipment each time you will end up with a collection many different cheap e-sigs,atomizers.
Also i bought 17 liquids to find something that has a good taste. Finally found liquid i like and i'm not buying something else and will stick to Joyetech M7 anf RY4 liquid.
(For a real/near tabaco taste and experience try Virgin Vapor Organic 'Best Damm Tobacco', but it is more for sigar/pipe smoke lovers.)

So in the start it can be more expensive, however it is better than smoking and i like buying electronic thingy's :)

For your setup you should get a quality Mod,clearomizer and good battery's with charger.

My current setup(happy with it for now)
Cleaomizers:
Aspire Nautilus (recommended)
KangerTech V2

Mod:
Vamo V5 (not recommended, eats battery's, will be replaced by a Provari P3 when it is available)

Charger:
Nitecore Digicharger D4 (it also detects the battery type ( Li-ion, Ni-MH en Ni-Cd )
Battery's:
Panasonic IMR CGR18650CH

Also look up "Vaping & Batteries: Things You Should Know" on youtube, that will help you buy good battery's and avoid getting a collection of cheap and dangerous chinese rebrands and re-used laptop battery's

heres a quick breakdown of what I use
SVD 40$ fasttech
RSST 25$ local B&M
batteries (2) 20$
charger 25$
kanthal 5$ 100' roll
Rayon 10$ lifetime supply (500')
and about 44$ a month for 100ml of juice
after the initial investment of approximately 150$ for the hardware, Im spending about 40 - 50$ a month now
ciggies cost me (3 PAD) 15$ a day so... 400 or so a month

When I was smoking I paid $5.89 per pack (Marbolo Menthol 72's). Those are a fairly cheap cigarette comparatively to what others spend.

My set up -- including a mod, 3 tanks, 8 juices, 2 different packs of coils, batteries, charger -- was, I believe, just over $300.00 OTD.

In just 5 days, my tank has already been "paid for" by my lack of cigarettes.

Now, I'm going into the city this weekend to get some more "toys" -- I'd really like to have three complete set ups, plus a couple extra tanks. So, it will be a good while before I'm even/steven on things. But, ultimately, I do see the balancing out as completely possible, if not inevitable. I just like to shop, which is a big determinant when it comes to saving $$, no matter what we're talking about.

On the other hand, my friend is buying her setup today. She smokes a more expensive cigarette. But she's been scoping out deals all week. Out the door, she's looking at $60.00 for her complete soup-to-nuts set up (battery mod, tank, coils). She'll be in the green real quick.

Ultimately it decides on how deep you want your pockets to go. Needs v. Wants. It's just like anything else. You can buy a Honda or you can by a BMW, both will get you where you need to go. You can buy well liquor or you can buy top shelf stuff, both will get you drunk.

It depends on where you are at in your vaping journey. When you are first starting out and buying all sorts of stuff to try out and buying all kinds of juice flavors online it can be a good deal more expensive than smoking. If you have to have all the shiny gorgeous mods and attys you see online, sure, it's going to cost a bunch.

For me it's way cheaper than smoking. I settled into one mod, one atty, and make my own juice. It costs me $8.13 to make 100 ml of my all day vape, and that lasts me about ten days, so it's about 1/10th the cost my smoking was, or less.

We've never been into flavors, so Mt Baker does fine for us. I've never cared, as Marlboro's all taste the same anyway. :)
We only vape to avoid smoking and have no interest in another hobby. Four of us have been completely off cigarettes for twenty months so far.

I use a 69 clone and a Nemesis clone.
Wife uses 2 MVP2's
Sister uses 1 MVP2
Niece uses 1 SVD

We all use i4 chargers and aerotanks.

My wife and I spend about $40 per month together vs 7 cartons of cigarettes. :)

As my wife and I were spending in excess of $400 per month for cigarettes, I can't even imagine consuming that much in vaping supplies.

Seriously. $750 per month here for tobacco. No way vaping could come close, even with start-up costs included!!

(I don't plan to get into mod stuff!)

Now, if the gov-mnt decides to tax the crap out of it...

Is vaping really cheaper than smoking?? With or without the cost of medical bills that won't have to be paid because am no long killing my self?

Well in the long run, probably more expensive, adds years to your life, and lets face it, every added year of life, because of vaping and not having to smoke, cost ten's of thousands of dollars, to remain on this planet instead inside it. Add in senior cost of medical, and inflation, yeah, much more costly than smoking.

Thing is, if vape gear is chosen wisely, it will provide years of service, the cost of vaping is only a couple hundred a year, for juice supplies, wick wire and batts, if one does DIY juice, that is. Mods and atomizers are the investment into a quality vape, and life enhancement. And after your first mod and decent re-buildable atomizer, one doesn't require any more gear. That probably won't stop most from getting more.

In the year I haven't smoked, I have rigorously reinvested the money that I haven't spent on tobacco products and have started a modest collection, ranging from a variety of the best of the best tank systems, dripper atomizers, both mechanical and high amp regulated mods. Am set for life, long as they don't come up with something that I just gotta have, that is:D:lol:

Collecting should have no bearing on "the cost of vaping", that's the cost of a hobby. It's like coin or art collecting. Heck, even have a couple one of a kind Authentic mods, that will likely increase in value, but will also last to the day I no longer have to pay to be planet bound.

Vape long and Prosper.!!!

While the $400 or so per month wasn't really a hardship, it was irritating when I thought of the tobacco companies ripping off so many people with an enhanced addictive product. My family quit for health reasons and the results have been great. My wife and I had been religiously using the little tar guard filters for five years, so our transition was probably easier than for some people. The things actually catch a lot of stuff.

Having no interest in vaping gear beyond the necessities, I am amazed at all the hobby gear I read of on FB groups. I'm glad there's something for everyone in the world of vaping. Anything that works! (I can't see my SS Nemesis clone with magnets wearing out for a long, long time.)
