I spent about $60 a month on smokes. Somewhat of a light smoker but for many years. I did my initial purchase for my PV of $50 and seem to spend about $25-30 per month maintenance. Having pretty recently started and not planning on going crazy with purchases, I can already tell it's going to be much cheaper than smoking even with BT coupons/at-counter discounts.
The best part is that I'm saving my health and I don't have to go outside to smoke anymore. :2c:

I found the first month I spent around the same money setting up as I would have on cigarettes as I went from a starter kit that cost £32.50, to a Vision Spinner 2 with a KangerTech Pro Tank 2 (£27.50) then finally the Vision X-Fire Wooden Dragon (just because I like the looks) with a Aspire Nautilus Tank (£65)

Nearly 3 month of vaping and thats all the hardware I purchased totalling £125, could have done the same cheaper shopping around online I bet but I only ever used my local vaping shop so thats what it cost.

Again using my local shop prices, coils for the Protank are £2 each, Coils for the Nautilus are £3.50 each, Clearomizers for the 650mAh start battery I have (still use them at work) are £3.50 each

If I was to use a new coil / clearomizer each month on each device, thats 2x clearomizer for the starter kit batteries, 1x Nautilus Coil 1x Protank Coil that total's £12.50, thats paying top doller on all parts from a fairly pricey shop, and over estimating how often I really change my coils.

The shop I use does 2 types of liquids standard onces at £2.50 per 10ml or 3x for £6, or premium for £3.99 per 10ml

I find every couple of weeks I spend £10 on liquids. so say £20 per month.

So thats a personal running cost of £32.50 per month at the very most, not sure about you but thats less than smoking was costing me per week.

The wire size" you" ordered sounds very high Ressistance...,surely its not the fault of Vape Mesh for supplying what "you" ordered.

Up to that point I'd been rewinding with 0.17mm salvaged from electronic component resistors, that sort of agrees with 0.15mm that I found in a 2.8R Vivi-Nova head, the 1.8R had the same number of turns but 0.16mm - that more or less agrees with the salvaged wire.

The Mesh Co wire was nearly 1 Ohm per turn!! - For an even vaguely useable resistance, I could only put on 2 or 3 turns - practicall no surface area between coil and wick.

The only way I can use this wire is double it up and twist it together - last night I tried twisting 3 strands, I got 6 turns of that into the Vivi-Nova head without the ends shorting - it vaped well but was a bit hard on the battery.

At their resistivity; the wire needs to be at least 0.20mm - If the Mesh Co don't know that, they should've stuck to making hot wire styrene foam cutters and kiddies bead kits.

Isn't it easier to just order some kanthal wire from Fasttech or Ebay? I used to make vivi and protank coils with 32 gauge. They even sell pre-wound coils.

Most people want to go cheap verses getting hardware that is going to produce the kind of vapor you want and is of a good quality material. You get what you pay for applies here! If I had only purchased a high quality Mod to begin with (ProVari), I would've saved myself quite a few coins. So invest in a variable or dual wattage/voltage device and get a dual coil tank, along with a great VG/PG juice that you like and you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised by how fast you give up those nasty analogs! Not to mention the years added to your life, now that's something you can't put a $ value on!
Happy Vaping to You!

I did go Spinner to Vamo to SVD to VTR to MVP2 to Nemesis clone + kick over a period of six months. All were at sale prices, so less than $200. All but the Vamo still work (in fact are in like new condition). I use the kicked Nemesis clone as my daily device. I like simple without buttons and screen.

Kanthal might even be what the problem is - chances are; everything I'd encountered up to that point might've been nicrome.

Depends on the country really doesnt it ? Cigarettes are about $1 a pack here (Marlbro) .

If I were to vape off-the-shelf Dekang juice I'd cost me $2 per day (10ml a day) + equipment costs, so around 2.5x more expensive.

However I make my own juice so that works out at around $200 a year + $150 on equipment (mods/batteries/chargers/kanthal etc) so pretty much dead even for me, but I can walk a few flights of stairs and not be out of breath.

If I had only purchased a high quality Mod to begin with, I would've saved myself quite a few coins.

No better words can be said - as the old saying goes, measure twice and cut once.

I went though about 10 various egos / cig-alikes / clearomizers / cartomizers / VV mods etc.. before buying a durable mechanical mod, RBA and decent batteriesand I've been happy ever since. Unfortunatly I tend to drop mine alot so the VV VW mods did not / would not survive a week with me.

I would have saved the guts of $500 had I bought a mech to begin with.

Absolutely not!

Theory says that, once you settle with an ADV and a hardware, you can vape spending very few money if you are mixing your own liquids, but that's just theory. Reality, at least if you are deep into vaping, is that vaping is constantly evolving and there is always a new RDA, a new mod or a new flavor you just have to have. That's expensive.

Of course, if you vape Dekangs with a clearo and an eGo battery, then, yes, vaping is much cheaper than smoking.

Anyway, either if its cheaper or more expensive than smoking, it is HEALTHIER, and that's what really matters in the long run.

I stopped smoking for obvious health risks and began vaping hoping it would be a safe cheaper alternative to smoking and quickly realized its not at least in my case, is the same true for you guys and gals?

From a financial pov it can be just depends on what you are into. From a health stand point for me it is by far cheaper than smoking.

Yes, it's way cheaper. Ciggies in WI are $7/pack. I smoked 1.5 packs, which came to around $10/day. The initial expense of vaping is more, in that you pay more than $10 for a decent kit to start with, plus juice, then you pay more for improved gear. However, once you find what works for you, price goes down dramatically.

I have a few mech clones, a few rdas, all the kanthal and cotton wicking I need for years, and I make my own juice. I couldn't have spent over $5 vaping last month.
