I know that probably back in the day that people could smoke in supermarkets and stuff (someone confirm?) but if I can't remember every being able to smoke in a place, I haven't been able to bring myself to vape there.

yep, The good old days I remember smoking in grocery stores, flicking ashes on the floor. I remember, as a kid, my mom dropping her cig on the store floor and stepping on it, to put it out.

[Also as a kid] I also remember an uncle lighting a cig and placing it in a manikins hand for the pleasure of other clothes shoppers. [God rest his "Hell's Angels" sole. (Yes he died of lung canser) (Yes he continued to smoke to the very end.]

I miss him.

Sorry to hear about your Uncle.

It's just so weird to think how analog smoking and the view on it has changed over not so many years. With so many other health problems out there, like the huge rate of obesity in the USA, still no cure for cancer, and AIDS- everyone has just freaked out about smoking in a way that it's pretty much demonized now!

Maybe we should ban or regulate McDonald's! (The only thing that I can eat from there is the nuggets since their burgers give me the craps)

Ewww.. true though.. I should pretty much skip the middle man and throw most of the macdonalds food in the toilet right after I order it. I know lots of people that can't even make it out of the store without having to take a detour to the restroom... and yet they keep going back.

Woo, not me. As soon as I figured out that it was making me do that, I totally stopped. It didn't always do that to me, not when I was a bit younger, but in most recent years it's been pretty bad. I did have their new Angus burger the other day without a problem, so I think that it's just something to do with their regular hamburger meat for me.

I love Wendy's and it never happens with them. I don't eat a whole lot of fast food though, I guess I just feel ripped off for paying so much for something just because it's "convenient", you know?

They want to! there has been talk of two new taxes: a transfat tax, and a high fructose corn syrup tax. that would hit mcdonalds with a double whammy. nanny state, indeed! it is not my country's right to tell me i cant make myself a double cheeseburger eatin fatty if i want to be. *im not, but thats not the point* i play hockey and chase my kids around all day to keep in some semblance of shape.

All things in moderation, people. Not everything, well actually nothing, has to be approached as an 'us against them' battle.

When I smoked analogs, the people that actually complained to me right to my face were the little old ladies that you could could smell coming from 100 yards away because their perfume.

We are all the same human beings on the same planet. Work with each other, talk with each other, educate, demonstrate, share for goodness sake. Use your 'nicotine vaporizers' when and where it makes sense and 'common sense' tells you is appropriate.

Stop looking for the boogie man, stop treating the rest of humanity as the enemy. If you are looking for trouble you will find it. If you are looking for friendly fellow humans that are curious and well meaning and willing to listen you, you will find them...

Respect the other guy will get you respect 99% of the time... the other 1% is from the ASH people of the world and we will get through this battle eventually because the vast - VAST - majority of people are reasonable and understand the nuttiness of the zelots. This too shall pass.

Yep, yep, exactly. I just ordered the Dragon M401 - totally doesn't look like a real cigarette, which was what I thought I wanted at first, turns out it wasn't :)

Really doubt I'll go and use it though where smoking is banned. If the owners aren't aware of what a PV is, it just seems a little...disrespectful...to me.

Right on, that's exactly why I got the 510 in black with a blue LED. I didn't want anyone to be able to say to me what he said to you. It's cool though that you were nice about it and he's going to even check with some head honchos about it. It's all about awareness and knowledge.

No double whammy for MickeyD... they stopped using oil with transfats. All that's left is the little bit that's in beef naturally. Another win for our nanny government.

So how will they fund their pet projects when all our sins have been banned or taxed into oblivion?

I don't think it's wise to vape in public.
After all the vapor is visible and people are going to think your smoking something.

It's better to be discreet, invisible, until this whole FDA stuff blows over.

Mind you. i was vaping in switzerland on outside terraces...and people were staring at me as if i were an Alien.
I do not like to attract attention.

Totally agree. Let this blow over. I do not vape at all in public, other than when I'm driving. I'm not smoking, but people certainly think I am.

I can wait a few minutes until I get out of Best Buy.

Not sure if people think I'm smoking a cigarette when I'm vaping my silver 801 pen style, I do get some curious looks :)

However, as far as just whipping it out and vaping where ever, when ever...nah, that's not me. Although, the Dragon is perfect for ducking into an aisle real quick and getting a long, smooth stealth hit or two - like yesterday in Target, when my daughter was taking forever picking out a pair of pajamas and I was dying for some nicotine! :)

Exactly why I like the black 510 with blue LED. The less it looks like a cigarette, the less likely they'll you're smoking and just ask what you're doing.

Yesterday we were in the non-smoking section of a local cafe and I took a few puffs from my PV. (People were smoking back in the smoking section.) The waitress saw it, came up and said, "What IS that thing?" And when I told her she said, "I thought so. We were just talking about those at school (university) the other day." I could help but ask why they were tqlking about it and she said they were outside smoking and someone brought up the oncoming winter (I'm in northern Wisconsin) and someone else mentioned e-cigs. I showed her how it works and told her the price and, as usual with smokers, her eyes lit up!

As a former Applebee's manager, I certainly would go to higher management and point out how vaping is becoming a popular alternative for smokers and since it's legal, restaurants who allow it will have a larger customer base! If they want, they can have a vaping section!

Let's face it, if your going into "Best Buy" or any other establishment for a short amount of time whats the point in taking in your pv? To draw attention? ( Hey, look what I can do and its not smoking! Try and stop me?) This kind of menatlity put us back two steps for every positive step we take in the "right" direction. We have a product here that most everyone here will agree is the only thing to get them off the analogs. We surely do not need to add to the false negatives. Education not ......ation!
