For the Love of all that is Holy...

Stop
Calling
Cigarettes
ANALOGS!!!!!!!

It is ten times as pretensious as Steve Jobs! Bono is less of a ......... than that term. And it does not even make sense! AT ALL!! There is no rhyme or reason behind calling them that.

It is more annoying than if Jar Jar Binks had a kid with an Ewok and a fanboy pretending to be a Klingon!!

That single term I bet has driven off hundreds of would be members.

I for one am about ready to haul on out of here -- prob will not be missed, but still, I like to help sometimes -- if I read that term again.

THEY ARE CIGARETTES. CALL THEM CIGARETTES. PLEASE. FOR THE SANITY OF OTHERS.

Thanks, have a nice day!

I have to agree with you. I think, at first, it was a cute way of separating the old from the new electric cigarettes. Kind of a "digital" vs. "analog" thing. But you're right and it does get old and kind of stupid when you really think about it. I mean those are cigarettes. These are not. Why drape them in the same cloth?

Aesthetically, I agree. I've stopped calling them that. To me it was one of those jokes that was funny the first 10,000 times I heard it, and after that less so. I made a brief attempt to refer to them as "acoustics" (as in, acoustic versus electric guitar), but no sale. That said, a dismissive word like "analog," along with other condemnation of all things smoking, may be part of a psychological quitting strategy that works for some so I'm reluctant to mess with others' practices.

Kind of bugged me at first too, but I tolerate it now.

Actually, now I find myself asking why someone used the word
cigarette(s) instead of the other.
Just think that when they say it, it’s meant to describe OLD.

Besides, if it used like this,
• Meat analog, any of several types of non-meat meat imitations or substitutes
Analog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

it's all right to use it in context with cigarettes.

The word "Cigarette"? I feel I should limp wrist when saying it, because that word is "Not-So-Manly" and that is not how "I roll"...

The in the UK they just call them "Fags". Maybe there is a coloration.

I am not going to say "I have to puff a ..." either.

I doubt anyone else would be driven away by the term analog. Most people know the term because it was used so much to describe the old way of sending signals to your TV and now there is the new and improved digital signal.

Old way of smoking vs the new improved way to smoke. Analog vs Electronic.

No need to be offended by the term. It just means the old way verses the new way.

But what are your real feelings on this subject? :D

What I hear you are suggesting is that we call analogs cigarettes and what do you suggest all the suppliers that call PV's e-cigarettes do - rename them to doucheairbags?

Which Bono are you referring to? There is the Irish musician Bono, Congresswoman Mary Bono, Bono's Pt Bar-B-Que in Florida, Sonny Bono, Chad Bono?????

Maybe "analogs" works for now because most everyone knows what it refers to.

Kinda agree with you. When I first got here I had NO idea what was ment by analog. I use it cause Im too lazy to type out cigarette.;) Its not a bad word and does bring back sweet memories of high school when I made out with young hot Ana Log under the bleachers.

I don't care about analog but I really hate when people call these e-cigarettes. I think it hurts the cause to have these in any form associated with 'cigarettes'. I try to call them PVs as much as possible. I do use the term e-cig on these boards but with the uniformed public, I stay away from the term. That's my 2 pennies worth.
