I haven't been vaping long - but I like the terms "vaping" and "analogs" personally. I never thought of analogs referring to old vs. new or the old way to transmit versus digital - I figured it was a reference to what the devices we use are measured against in difference... you know, the "real cigarette" versus the e-cigarette.
Funny thing is that I rarely ever referred to actual cigarettes as being cigarettes - called them smokes, sticks, cigs, rollies, whatever... just never walked around saying "Hey! let me bum a cigarette..." or "I'm going to go have a cigarette". I'm sure people do, just not me over many years of smoking... so the new terms seem to work for me.
More importantly it makes a psychological distinction for me - e-cigarette just reminds me of cigarettes. Calling them "analogs", referring to what I am doing as "vaping", "fogging juice", etc all seems to help reinforce that I am doing something different and new for me... not smoking. So, I think I understand the frustration some people might feel towards these terms... but it seems a little inconsiderate to criticize the use of them, noob or not.
